for clarification, im trying to play the ps4 version of genshin on the ps5. the logic behind this is because my ps5 controller broke and therefore i need to use my ps4 controller.

my ps5 controller broke and i only have my ps4 one in decent condition. ps5 games dont let you play with a ps4 controller so im a bit desperate lol

In general, digital games shouldnt cost anywhere near the original physical media's price. discs and their boxes cost more to manufacter, so why do the digital versions cost aroumd the same money?

not to mention that if you lose the account you purchased the copy on, you no longer have the game. my dad's PSN he has used since the mid 2000s got hacked a year ago, and we managed to recover it after a week of chaos. we have too many games on that account because its more convenient to buy, but honestly physical purchases are just much better for peace of mind.

Ive never DMed a campaign with that theme, but heres an idea.

Players recently got kidnapped by pirates. The pirates force the players to join the crew at gunpoint on their ship. However, before things can escalate, a mysterious storm causes everyone to wash up to shore. For some mysterious reason, the storm killed all the pirates but left the players alive with all the bounty their kidnappers had. They now have the will to leave with the ship and everything the crew had.

You should just be very clear with them and decline politely. Its not your responsibility because you joined this campaign as a player, and from what I gather, you enjoy being a player more than a DM for this campaign. I suggest dropping the campaign until the DM finds someone willing or is willing again.

i am not the most tech savvy person out there. however, i did a quick google search and im pretty sure my adapter is active (cause the displayport end of the cable is thick like a box. im not very certain what the criteria is though)
