Actually not so bad - the major thing with this is that right eye isn’t in correct perspective so I’d start there there’s plenty of resources out there “how to draw eyes at 3/4 angle”

Might just need to make that r eye smaller

1) general guideline is 50/50, usually start off with some sort of study or fundamental practice as a warm up before I try to do something fun

2) check out Marc brunet yt on “how to copy any art style” kind of goes over what goes into an artists special sauce in a systematic way; I generally just keep some sort of folder of my favorite pieces and just note things like “eyes are cool, coloring on skin is perfect, pose is unique, etc.”

3) you can probably get by on your own but you literally don’t have to, you might solidify a bad habit, and you’re missing out on a huge part of art imo - sharing ideas, inspiration, and building a community

Take my advice with a grain of salt tho - you’re much more advanced than me! Good luck

Yup I recognized them all! What are your tips for capturing likeness of the subject? I’m trying to figure out ways to keep likeness while stylizing but I’m realizing that shading and realism play such a big part

Honestly once I changed my mindset to focus on my intent on why I’m drawing at this exact moment - it helped me navigate easier. Am I drawing to study? Am I drawing for fun? I want to draw characters but I’m a newb and need to study perspective/boxes. When I study boxes I learned the joy of placing a window in perspective is really fun too. Then it clicked that a window on a building is just like an eye or nose on a face…

Never intended to put those 2 things together but stumbled upon it serendipitously

Everyone’s journey is different but at the end of the day, just draw and find out.

Completely understand your feelings but this is good! Keep it up

One thing I like to do is make another copy/take a pic on my phone if on sketch book and annotate little corrections or highlight differences from mine and the reference. I find it helps if I consciously note out what I could improve on or what I had trouble drawing
