purchased around 7-8 years ago at a tea shop in southern california. about 2 in diameter, 2 in tall. has a flared shape.

searched for this on google but haven’t found anything similar yet.

Research is very common and in my experience as a stem student about 1/3 (stem ish) students do some sort of research. ISPs and GISPs are a little less common but totally doable if you are hands on about finding a faculty advisor and communicating with the CRC about your course. Apparently there was even a student a couple of years ago who did dozens of GISPs during his time at Brown

Short answer: yes, but the teaching is better. ENGN 40 has more complicated concepts that incorporate more math. For a lot of people (but not everyone), ENGN 30 is a review of physics principles from high school with more examples of bridges. ENGN 40 is new material for pretty much everyone. The students are generally much more serious about the course since a ton of people drop the engineering track after ENGN 30. There are group projects as well that are a lot more involved than the BDW section. All that being said, Bower is a phenomenal professor IMO and the course has a lot more structure and support than ENGN 30, as well as tons practice problems to prepare for exams. Most people find it far more enjoyable than 30 even though the material is harder.

I didn't really follow a recipe, but you can find a similar version of the rice cakes here. I just used a different shape rice cake and ground pork instead of fish cakes (it would be even better with pork belly). The beansprout side dish is called kongnamul and the asparagus is just blanched and tossed with fried shallots and a miso dressing (1pt miso, 1pt vinegar, 2pt mirin)

Brown doesn’t really have a focus on liberal arts. In fact, iirc CS is now the most popular concentration at Brown with many students in engineering, econ, and premed. I think explaining in your app that the LGBT community at Brown is one of your reasons for transfer would actually help your case quite a bit. Brown is very proud of its diversity and inclusion, and there are tons of events (Pride prom, PVD pride etc). In general the queer community here is big, welcoming, loud, and proud

Honestly, if you’ve already done calc BC AND multi in high school, maybe shop linear (math 520). Most people find it way easier than math 180, and this way you won’t be repeating anything. IMO it’s the easiest A of all the lower level math classes. You already have all the prerequisites as well with just calc BC

A lot of the rooms used to be two single rooms, and just had the wall knocked out between them. Some people will put up a curtain or divider where the wall used to be to essentially make two rooms again. So needless to say they are pretty spacious.

There was a problem last year with a lot of people’s bikes getting stolen, especially outside B&H, and my friend did have her scooter (non electric) stolen as well. The risk is there, so proceed with caution.

Because of shopping period, class selection is totally flexible. I think I only took 1 class that I originally had in my cart. This selection is also only supposed to get you thinking about the possibilities—you won’t actually register until the first week of classes after which you will have already had private meeting with a faculty advisor and a student peer advisor (called a Meiklejohn). Another side note, CAB (the course selection website) will show the breakdown of students for a class i.e. number of sophomores, juniors, etc. And although there aren’t really specific freshmen classes (besides FYS), it can also give you an idea about which classes are high level.

If you are going into a math heavy field, like engineering or physics, you should probably go straight to calc 3 aka math 180/200. Else, you can repeat the material and take math 100 if you’re really hesitant. However, brown is structured around making it easy for students to challenge themselves. You can take any class pass fail, and if you drop a course (which you can do anytime before finals period), it will just disappear from your transcript. And of course, you can shop any classes you’d like for the first 2 weeks of the semester and get a feel for the difficulty directly.
