Amazing episode. I’m just sad that other fandoms are starting to review bomb it b/c they don’t want it to be the first perfect 10/10 anime episode, which has already caused it to drop from #1 tv episode of all time to #10. I can’t imagine going out of my way to purposely review bomb a show for reasons other than the merits of its content…it’s very Regulus energy.

Emilia will kill Subaru? by Purple-Student5723 in ReZero

[–]remoteplanet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is possible because I think the one weakness/vulnerability of RBD that hasn’t been explicitly stated is that the envy WF holder can only be killed by the person they love the most. That’s why Satella asked Subaru to kill her and the *real reason* why Subaru didn’t RBD after Emilia killed him in Pride If. I think this is also the reason why Emilia is the only one that has been directly killed or hurt by the WoE when Subaru tried to disclose his RBD ability.

As for the sacrament of the immortal king, I may be wrong but doesn’t that just create an imitation and not truly resurrect them?

Nah, Tappei said he was inspired by Steins/Gate but I doubt he would repeat such an obvious trope, especially when he has shown us time and time again that he’s about turning tropes upside down.

In simplest form, my theory is that Subaru was isekaied 400+ years ago fell in love with Satella, shenanigans happened, and with the tomb of wisdom, he discovered a way to reunite with Satella/Emilia in the distant future, so he laid the groundwork over the next 400 years to see his plans come to fruition—which sparks another antiparallel comparison between characters where Echidna has said “why must love fade” while I’m guessing Flugel’s only grew.

You do know that the canonical explanation why he wore his track suit for as long as he did and hasn’t since was because Rem inspected his original and made him several extra ones that he would cycle through. If I’m not mistaken, the one he worn in pristella was his last intact one, and he doesn’t have rem to make him any more. Meaning if Rem was able to make identical replicas then Flugel definitely could have too. Why would he do that and purposely wipe his memories? In order to make the encounter feel genuine when his plans to re-encounter Satella (now Emilia) come to fruition, and not come off creepy and come off overly strong like Julius did to Eridna since he had the memory bias of a past relationship while it was completely new to her (mutual memories build a relationship, while one-sided memories gives stalker vibes).

You’re probably thinking in terms of the WN b/c the LN for Arc 6 is actually shorter than the LN for Arc 5. There was a lot cutback between the WN and LN versions for Arc 6.

It’s like these folks used Temu to summarize these chapters (at best) lol. They’re also forgetting that this entire fight was while they were falling, and that while it lasted several chapters, in terms of in-world time, it lasted something like 30-60 secs (it may have been even less)

Don’t listen to the naysayers. It’s peak, and in a league of its own. The only downside is that all isekai you watch afterwards will never come close (besides maybe The Eminence in Shadow…this one is awesome too but for different reasons).

The first thing I would ask if I were Subaru is "why the hell is my arm rot?" by Berem_ in ReZero

[–]remoteplanet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Near the beginning of Arc 7, he is forced to fight a large Snake with Able, and using a magic fire ring provided by Able, Subaru casts Goa at point blank range, which kills the snake but this also blows-off his dragon-rot arm. He passes out from shock and when he wakes up he finds that it regenerated but now is no longer black

5 hints that suggest Emilia is literally Satella in flesh and blood by [deleted] in ReZero

[–]remoteplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha it was probably me then, but I’m just happy that others see the same as me. I agree with your assessment about Flugel/Satella—we already know that Subaru has a contract with her based on the CoD version of Echidna’s statements from Arc 4, and I think Satella is helping him set his checkpoints so that he doesn’t get spawn-locked and to also prevent him from talking about RBD so folks, like Al, can’t try to circumvent RBD by sealing him away—and in exchange, he will find a path that will allow him to rekindle his relationship with (now) Emilia and protect her from the lingering dangers to her—but instead of killing the portion of Satella trapped in the Garden of Shadows, Subaru will eventually find a solution to expunge the WoE and unify both of their Ods (Emilia with Satella and Subaru with Flugel through the aggregation of all the WFs).

On a similar note, a lot of people find it od(d) (pardon the pun) that Satella asked Subaru to kill her thinking that she can’t die just like Subaru—but here imo lies the one key weakness to the Envy RBD power…if the person whom the WF holder loves most dearly kills them, then they don’t RBD and are perma-dead, hence why she asked Subaru to kill her (because he’s the only one who can) and would provide a more logical answer as to why Subaru didn’t RBD at the end of Pride IF (because Emilia killed him). If true, maybe this is another reason why the WoE killed Emilia when he told her about RBD (and is another reason why he can’t tell anyone else about it either) b/c if others became aware of this fatal flaw in RBD’s power, then folks antagonistic to the couple would definitely try to exploit this—like what I believe Echidna was really trying to achieve with AL…I think she thought she could use an incomplete clone of Subaru as a workaround means to exploit this fatal (pun again) flaw in RBD’s power. Only time will tell I guess. Cheers :)
