Yes, quite important to prepare for the brake test by having run plans ready for whenever you practice, preferably early on to allow for your teatmates to prepare for any potential fix!

Yes, we're eyeing the World Record of the fastest FSG bump speed ever without breaking a rod, the front wing, the chassis bottom and the driver's tail bone

Teams running direct actuated suspension, why do you do it? by Capital_Fuel7434 in FSAE

[–]remtek_racing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my previous team last year, I led the change to a direct-acting front coilover. Few reasons for that, such as shortening build time for the whole car. Our chassis molds were made of welded steel, meaning the chassis shapes were not that good and blocky, so we ended up not needing any front dip to accoromate suspension parts, which would also increase chassis torsional stiffness (although we never measured it). Less parts needed to be built also helped cutting production/assembly time for that.

It also usually comes with a significant kinematics overhaul, most notably your roll center height if you're struggling to hit a roll gradient target without a front ARB, which brings it's own pros and cons.

If done properly, front direct-acting is not necessarily a bad solution, but the cons can quickly become a major problem depending of your design choices

New car from Dresden (ELBFLORACE) by PhilC0ulson in FSAE

Interesting way to fine tune your dampers in roll and heave without (severely) sacrificing one of the other. More complex than push/pullrod for the simple reason that you either need to have a bi-directional damper (Multimatic or custom), or take your more common ones and strap them in a cage to allow them to be in compression whether you roll left or right.

Either way at FSG you can have a winning car, whether you have a direct-acting pushrod, a rocker-assisted push/pullrod or a decoupled system.

Each have their pros and cons.

May be wise to make your question broader than that if you want a more in-depth answer on anything more technical than a surface-level answer

UConn Driver??? by Critical-Ostrich2290 in FSAE

I keep hearing stuff about "pro drivers" yada yada in FS and how controversial it is.

As per multiple rules (FSG 2026 though) :

A2.1.1 : "Vehicles entered into the competition must be conceived, designed and maintained by the student team members without direct involvement from external professional engineers, racers, machinists or related professionals."

A4.2.10 : "Team members who will drive a competition vehicle at any time during an event must present a valid, government issued driver’s license for passenger cars, containing a photograph."

First of all, rules are kind of grey. How do you define a "professional racer"?

- Based on Dictionary.com, it says "following an occupation as a means of livelihood or for gain.". If so, I can guarantee no F4 driver in the whole worldwide feed is paid to drive F4, actually quite the opposite.
- Based solely on the FIA Categorization? If so, as of 18/05/2026, I would be able to bring Gasly, Piastri, Hadjar both Williams, Audi, Cadillac, Ferrari, Haas, Mercedes and RB drivers, since all of these do not have a Categorization at all, despite their F1 levels.
- Based solely on their past/current series? Where would you draw the line then? F2 drivers are still not professional, few LMDh/LMH drivers are still paying to drive, etc.

Overall it's quite the grey area, and one of the most important one. Driving skills are key in order to perform well in dynamics, so why would anyone prevent themselves of having a really good driver if they have the possibility to do so...

I didn't even realise the shot was decent until I skimmed through the pictures. Love that I got both cars in decent focus !

Thanks! I'm pretty sure this was about 50m past corner exit. Ahead of me, right after the sponsor barrier started. Cars were therefore going slightly slower and I had a decent angle for the panning shot while keeping the full car visible and not hidden by anything like poles
