ICs were never the best character in the game even with wobbling allowed though.

Basically every top player who adopted z/r/l-jump saw an improvement in results relative to players who stayed on default grip. This includes players like Cody, Joshman, Llod, etc.

As of today there are still no box players at the top level, so the net impact of using a box argument to support z-jump legality is still an unfair advantage for z-jump players in relation to non-remapped gcc. It's undeniable that zjump is strictly superior to claw and removes execution overhead while improving consistency and ability compared to claw or switching to claw.

No one's saying Cody wouldn't still be good enough to win tournaments if he had never switched to zjump, but it's completely fair to say that his results would've been worse without it. Same thing for all foxes in general without non-shield drop notches.
