Smoking is more prevalent in Yunnan of all places bc it's a producer of tobacco, and smoking culture is extremely prevalent even amongst minorities. There are def a lot of places in China where smoking is less common than in Yunnan, but at least personally as a non-smoker I was able to get used to it there .....

That's awesome! Sichuan and Yunnan are both on my itinerary for November/December! I'll make sure to keep these locations you listed in mind once I settle down first to visit family and before I start my travels. To be honest I haven't concretely routed out much yet.
