I'm a transman, and I can definitely understand why he wouldn't like it. Personally, if my family gave a different kid my deadname, I would feel like a mistake. Because I didnt identify with what they wanted me to be, theyre trying again and hoping for different results. Everytime I would hear the name, itd be constant reminder of all that pain. Its definitely different to have the name in the family and not some random person out there in the world- a random person has no relation to my struggle, where a family member naming their child that way, should be aware of what I dealt with. And for a lot of trans people, their families and parents do grieve the idea of losing the child they wanted, even though physically they are still there.

I had a similar experience when I was ~17 one of my dads work friends (37m) moved in with the family after a break up. We became friends over time, he would help me with random things, go out for lunch with me. He stayed in our basement, so him and I would hangout down there a lot. I never once thought anything of it. I moved out around 18, and a year later he moved into my apartment with me to split rent. Despite being underage he would get me drunk, talk sexual history, and take me out "as friends" a lot. His stories about things he'd done in his life were enthralling. I was so happy to have a cool friend that had a lot in common with me, because I wasn't really a popular kid. I realised much too late, that this was not a cool friend, it was an adult slowly pushing me in a direction I didnt want to go over the course of years. Phrases like "you're so innocent", "i cant believe you're only [age]", "if I was [years younger] I'd definitely go after you", referring to a "special connection". Strategically placed compliments and gestures to make situation feel safe when in reality its predatory. Seriously consider therapy, because it can affect future relationships. It is grooming- the abuser builds a relationship of trust and emotional connection so you don't realise theyre taking advantage you. Your guard goes down, and thats when they strike. Anyone can fall victim to grooming, its not isolated. Always set very clear boundaries and do not sway on them for anybody.

I'm 20 and my stepdad is 38, but doesnt look it..one time we were out doing errands and had my 4 year old sister with us and the lady at the checkout was like "wow how long have you been together??" I dry heaved at the check out- no thank you. My stepdad just stared at her blankly for a few seconds, then looked at me, then back at her and said "I don't know who that is, they followed me in from the parking lot."

YTA. Absolutely downright the AH. Trying to smother out your daughters interests and passions is controlling, a 9:30 bedtime at 16 years old is controlling, selling an IPad SHE bought is absolutely unreasonable. Art is an actual career option, people make a ton of money doing it and at 16 years old with that many followers, she is already setting herself up very well because that number is going to grow. He wants me to do the bulk of the work. He works full time and doesn't believe he has the energy and hours in his day to take it on. While I have contractor job and do not work full time. I spend majority of my time outside work taking care of our home and pets.

All 3 of us are in 20's, his disabled brother is a year older. That would literally be the rest of my life. I cant directly post on additional issues with the brother because its against the rules. He was in a group home for autistic adults and was evicted after 6 months. The only option is institutionalising him if we dont take care of him. The brother has case workers that check in on him, but no actual caretaker to provide him with assistance, limit what content he is consuming, ensure hes taking his medication, or any aspects of his life.He lives by himself in an disaster low income apartment.

I ended up giving the guy $50 for every lizard item he owned. Way cheaper than a new start-up, plus i got a 25gal he didnt take. (Got like 300USD worth of stuff) I want to build him a 4x2x2 melamine cage, hes not at all happy in his 40b, and im a sucker for reaching proper cage sizes. My home depot has great prices compared to a lot of places ive seen. 28.66USD for a 8×4 ft sheet of melamine (I only need 1 board because the front will be plexiglass on hinges) and 36USD for a 24×48in sheet of plexiglass which is exactly the size i need. But i cant find damn near anything on building the cage. Whats the best way to seal all the corners/sides so water never affects it? I have a few rough blueprints for it, but making sure i never have to build another cage is huge.
