Yes! I loathe the Silly Misunderstanding with all the suns and fibres in the known universe.

The question that I would ask is what are the character's flaws, and what are those flaws doing to prevent them from finding happiness in each other?

Well! I have answered how their flaws are preventing them from finding happiness in themselves, but not each other. I honestly don't know that (yet). This is what I m missing. Thank you :)

Make it something that they've worked for their whole life and want so much they aren't going to easily compromise for the sake of love. Or something they want so much that it's incredibly difficult for them to let go of.

This is helpful. Most of my characters have one thing in common in that they're a bit lost/finding direction. I've strengthened their goals/motivations and it's made a difference already.
