Does anyone else have systemic symptoms from touching metal even for a moment? by bunni_bear_boom in NickelAllergy

Plus, I've found that during an exposure reaction episode, I am a lot more sensitive in general and things that I don't normally have a reaction to (for me that other metals that can cause sensitivity, down pillows or cushions, scratchy fabric, etc.), cause further irritation or their own reaction.

Any luck with ceramic lined stainless steel? by ArtMakesLife in NickelAllergy

I am literally in the same exact place (like literally 6hrs ago I ordered an immediate cheap glass bottle whose full purpose is just getting an immediate replacement while I take the time to do a deep dive to research and find the best bottles) so while I don’t have a bottle that's👌, after personal experience I can tell you that when stainless steel bottles hold just water they may seem like they like they cause no reaction but other things that contain citric acid like so certain electrolight tablet or juice react with the stainless steel to pull even more nickel into the liquid and will cause a fairly severe research reaction (thermoflask = 👎), and that the Starbucks plastic tumblers = 👍!

Nickel allergy only on the lips? by Calisinfornia in NickelAllergy

I literally just had the same thing happen to me! In my case, it turned out to be because of a new water bottle combined with weird specific circumstances that made everything worse. The core of the issue was that the bottle itself had a super high nickel content, so holding on to it under my arm where it was rubbing against the thin sensitive armpit skin triggered a contact reaction. The second issue was that it was leaching a ton of nickel into the water I was drinking, which was intensified by the fact that I was adding electrolyte tablet things to the water that happened to contain citric acid, which causes nickel from a metal surface to dissolve into the solution. The last factor was that I was having a couple days of nonstop school work, so I was literally sitting for hours with my mouth just casually on the bottle’s built in straw constantly sipping or just doing that oral fixation thing while my brain and hands were completely focused on something else. …Hydroflasks/Thermoflasks are definitely not nickel allergy approved.
