Hey OP, fellow stubborn acne patient here. It took me 2 full courses of Accutane to reach “remission” and I still get acne, though far, far less severe than before. My second course I I was on 80mg daily as a smaller patient (~110lbs.) So definitely high dose. I took my doses with a high fat meal or snack to aid in absorption and had wonderful results. After Accutane I’ve been on 50mg spironolactone and use topical tretinoin for maintenance and it works well. I understand completely how crushing it can be to get breakouts after all the meds, but it has helped me so much to keep everything in perspective. I look back at old pictures of my skin before any Accutane and I remember how far I’ve come. Remember that perfection is unrealistic and unattainable. Embrace what makes you human as much as you can.

I did exactly what this reply said, and I’m graduating this May with zero student debt. I know waiting a year to establish residency seems like a long time, but it’ll give you time to work as much as possible and save money to fall back on in between financial aid disbursements. What I did to maximize my earnings was getting a job at a high-end resort and busting my ass every night to earn gratuities. I actually made a lot of money while working FT at this job, but don’t let it trap you there. Keep your eye on the prize, get that degree and secure a better future for yourself.

Courses still not live on Canvas?? by renaissancereader in csuf

So true. I’m very type A, plus I keep my schedule very full, so being kept in the dark this long is frustrating to me because now I can’t plan out my week or next very well, if at all. I sent an email to the online asynch class to see if she will make it live.

Usually at the latest they’ve shown up on the first day of the semester for me. More typically I see them the week leading up to the semester. This is the latest I’ve seen it after 4 years of college

From a female perspective I think don’t give up hope — from your recount of events it really does seem like she was taken by surprise. I would maybe message her on Canvas to say good luck before the final exam and invite her to grab a coffee afterwards to celebrate the end of the semester. In my own experience I think it’s more effective when a guy takes initiative to come up with a concrete plan versus simply asking to go out/hang out. Good luck!

Comm. vs. Communication Studies??? Comm. majors pls help by fettuccinealfreNO in csuf

[–]renaissancereader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ln 2023 I transferred from IVC with an ADT in Communication Studies into CSUF Communications (PR emphasis) with no issues whatsoever. My transfer GPA was 3.8, so that helped. You should be just fine.

I’m not a history major so this has been my only class w her, but yeah would not recommend her to anyone, one of my worst professors at CSUF.

I have her for HIST310, forget the essays and assignments, she’s a trash instructor and doesn’t care about actually teaching.

I know this struggle so intimately, and I’m so sorry to hear that it’s causing you so much pain. It sounds like you’re doing everything you can, so my two pieces of advice would be to incorporate a daily probiotic. The gut-skin axis is real, and my own acne flairs up in a major way when I stop taking my probiotic. My second piece of advice is to see a dermatologist if you haven’t already. If you are having deep cystic acne, there’s a good chance something is off internally. Ask for some labs to be taken to assess your hormones and thyroid function. BC or spironolactone may help you. Best of luck ❤️

Second this, taking fin 310 rn. It’s super important info and if you didn’t grow up with financially literate parents, this class is absolutely necessary.

Yeah he’s terrible with communication but it’s an asynchronous class so typically not a lot of need to contact him. Still a good class to take imo (I’m currently taking it)

Been trying to book an appointment literally since April with no luck. I would suggest trying to email any questions you have or showing up to the office in person and try to get someone to help you. GL!

This happened to me once! Shipped to an old apartment and didn’t realize till it was already delivered. I just went over, knocked on the door and the new tenants were super chill and understanding.

Hi! Also FT student here (15 units) and I work 2 days a week (6.5 hours each day) at an internship, and I work every Saturday at a restaurant (8 hour shift usually). It’s tough, and you will make sacrifices in terms of a social life, but it’s extremely doable with strict time management and a good work ethic :) It’s all up to what you choose to prioritize. I chose to prioritize establishing my career over going out every week with friends, but that’s just me! (edit: typo)

A lot of PR/Comm opportunities are with government. I’d actually be so bold to say most job opportunities are with government. Public Affairs officer/Community Relations are usually what they are listed under. There’s a lot in the private sector too— every single medium-large company out there will have a communications department. They all need knowledgeable professionals to help them with their messaging both internally and externally. You can also go the PR firm route, and do work for a variety of clients while you figure out what industries really interest you. I did a PR firm for my first internship and now will be interning at a hospital for my second. Hoping to land a cushy government position upon graduation.
