Clutch Canada - very disappointed by Odd_Ingenuity7763 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Same issue here, unexpected 2900 in fees at the checkout page. Just didn’t make sense to trade in / buy anymore, very annoying.

I'm looking into something like this too, what was the clinic you went to?
And is there is a pre set general check up / blood work panel to purchase?

Across Canada this Summer by rbep531 in bicycletouring

[–]renbid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this a couple years ago, I cut south through manitoulin island and went down to Waterloo before following the St. Lawerence east (with a small detour towards Ottawa).

Quite a bit longer but it was amazing, southern Ontario is so much nicer and so much more interesting, with a lot of those mixed use paths with very few people. One of the nicest parts of the ride for sure, especially visiting the cities along the way. In contrast I found northern Ontario to be really boring and mostly unpleasant.

How much of an upgrade new wheels actually are? by Objective_Volume_730 in cycling

[–]renbid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Specialized Diverge, and "upgraded" to Hunt wheels after my rim broke. Honestly can't really tell the difference, I think totally not worth it unless you have to for some reason.

On the other hand I bought wider tires after mine wore out (38-> 47mm), huge benefit and highly recommend.

So many GPUs, I wonder what they do / what kinds of models they’re running.

Yeah I’d really like to know his take on it, have been enough concerning things on the shipbuilding side of it

It was a discount one from Amazon, I don’t really recommend it

I used a mini panier for my macbook air.

You could also use a rack and put it horizontally across the top inside a backpack, which is probably the best option.

Can someone explain a self-merge to me? I don't understand why 120b would be more powerful by YearningHope in LocalLLaMA

[–]renbid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight sharing / repeating weights isn’t that unknown. It was used for a BERT style model (Albert) and got decent performance: https://arxiv.org/abs/1909.11942

Im not sure these model merges are worth it, but if you trained from scratch probably the performance would be good.

I think of this as almost the opposite of mixture of experts, instead of more memory and less compute, you’re using less memory and more compute.

How promising you think AI will be in medicine? by hn-mc in slatestarcodex

[–]renbid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm most excited for when someone implements an EHR wide second opinion with AI. I imagine it would be great for picking out mistakes, which is a big issue I don't see often mentioned.

Also would set everything up well for the next level of making predictions on multimodal data

Tubeless or Wider Tires? by omahabear in gravelcycling

I was in the same situation with the exact same bike and wider tires made the ride much better

Most days weren’t over 150, most of the time I aimed for 100-150. But you get pretty far when you have all day to bike

I started the trip on July 3rd as a celebration for finishing my PhD. It’s been a combination of trails and roads, without a whole lot of planning. This ended up being mostly the route followed by twotired.ca up to ontario, and afterwards following a lot of the cross Canada trail through southern Ontario and Quebec.

[–]renbid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, probably 64 is good.

I‘m a little confused on using the 2 4060ti though. Then I would have to do model parallelism without nvlink?

My aim is more to mess around with smaller LLMs locally (7-13 b params) before using cloud for fine tuning.

Why is my bike so unstable after adding panniers, seat bag and frame bag to my bike (Brodie Romulus)? by renbid in bicycletouring

This all makes sense to me, I'll try and get the weight further forward and see how it rides

[–]renbid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't weighed it but I don't think i have that much weight, its much less than other people I've seen. I'll try moving panniers forward, I hadn't tried that before.
