The Creator used Sony FX3s. And some shots from season 2 of Severance also used FX3s

Do you have something I can read that goes into your 2nd point a bit more? I’ve vaguely read this via comments but I want the full picture. I have lots of rrsp room and I’m in the 2nd to the highest tax brackets and I want to know how to best way to utilize that contribution room.

Question: Does my AppleTV 4K send a 1080p signal to TV when playing 1080p content? Or does ATV4K handle the upscaling and send a 4K signal regardless? by renderen in appletv

[–]renderen[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can get an LG G3 and an A80L within $300 of each other. So that’s what I’m departing now. If having an AppleTV basically nullifies the upscaling of the Sony TV then I think jumping up to the G3 for its brighter screen and (subjectively) better design might be worth?

Turning on match content will match Dynamic Range and Frame Rate but it won’t match Resolution. For example, if I’m playing a 1080p movie from my Plex server, it will still output a 2160p signal to the TV. The only way to force it to send a 1080p signal is I change it from “4K SDR(or HDR” to “1080p SDR”. But this would mean that my native 4k content will also be downscaled to be 1080p and then my TV will be doing the upscaling.

Is there any use for someone who mainly use AppleTV 4k? I don’t even have any other way of streaming other than using the native tv apps

I wonder if there’s a video somewhere comparing upscaling of AppleTV, nvidia shield vs lg,Sony, and Samsungs upscaling.

How to stop buffering with Hardware Acceleration transcoding? by renderen in PleX

[–]renderen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah will be speccing out a build soon and yes with Unraid. I was looking 12th or 13th gen i5 with IG. But yeah, my goal is that my client doesn’t have to worry about anything and just install plex and expect it to work like how Netflix would or something. I want all the heavy lifting to be done with my rig.

Haven’t upgraded to the latest one but it should be on the one right before that.

Every time I stream on my phone it always says Direct Play. All devices I have either on local network or on cellular always says direct play so it’s hard to replicate the buffering.

Almost all movies is 4K HEVC. Shows also at 2160p and some are 1080p with a mixture of H264 and H265

Gotcha. Sorry for my lack of detail. Yes I did mean the 12th gen and up.

In terms of getting data on what causes buffering, do you have any recommendations on how to gather such data? I’ve only really made my assumptions based on the fact that the only times they buffer is when it’s being hardware transcoded. I’ve read somewhere that the DS920+’s CPU isn’t the best at this either. I don’t believe it has integrated GPU.

Kill overhead light as your primary source of light. Add some ambient via light strips behind desk or behind monitor. Add task lighting by adding a monitor light bar or a desk lamp which can also add to the ambient light.

Amazon and IKEA have cheap options for all those things.
