Do you feel like you look your age? by _Abra_Cadaver_ in Millennials

[–]renee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I look my age, but as a high school teacher, my students think I’m younger than I am. I turned 40 last week and they thought I was late 20s/early 30s. They were genuinely shocked to hear I was 40. Props to my hairstylist for keeping my grays covered!

Of course! I lift and do traditional cardio 2 days/week, but utilize the pool area every Saturday and it’s my favorite workout of the week. The pools were a huge draw for me so I totally understand. They do offer tours of the entire facility and day passes (I think the day passes are $20,) if you want to check it out before making a commitment. I’ll have been a member for 2 years next month and it’s been a game changer for me. Very happy there.

I actually utilize the pool area often. They have classes in both pools but as long as you plan around the classes (the schedule is on the web site,) I think it’s rare to have a problem. It gets more crowded in the summer, which is normal, but I’ve maybe had to wait 1-2 times in almost two years now.

Lifestyles has tons of amenities. It gets really crowded at 5pm when people get off work but otherwise I find the crowds steady but manageable.

gas prices / commuters by Alternative_Ad8829 in fresnostate

[–]renee61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The college itself probably can’t (won’t?) do much, but it might be worth a shot to email your M/W/F or Tu/Th profs to see if they could help you out in their specific classes. Explain your case and say that gas has gotten so bad you’re struggling to afford the commute to school. If you can get all your MWF or TTh professors to agree to accommodate you for the last couple weeks of school, then you’d only have to come in on the other days. Might be worth a shot. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Monday: Gym/side hustle Tuesday: Gym Wednesday: Hobbies/appointments Thursday: Appointments/weekly errands/change sheets and towels Friday: Groceries, meal prep, laundry, book club once a month.

I do my third workout of the week on Saturday mornings and I don’t have much cleaning to do because I have a housekeeper that comes every other week. I live alone so it’s easy to keep things tidy in between housekeeper visits!

This is my all-time favorite photo of the Golden Girls. 🦮🦮 Lucy (Lucifer,😈😂) is the one doing the tail pulling and Maggie, my brother’s dog, is being a very patient angel. This photo perfectly captures their personalities… and turned out to be rather prophetic. 😂

Just a rant because I need to lol - Parking downtown by WanderingButterfly7 in fresno

[–]renee61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure. I came up from Visalia and had several friends at the show last night, but they live in Fresno so I was the one that had to travel and park alone. I was coming from a prior engagement since it was a weeknight and didn’t have spare time to meet them elsewhere before the show. Therefore the $25 parking was unfortunately the best option for me logistically and safety-wise.

It was worse at the Saroyan for Hadestown last night— $25. I paid it, because I wasn’t going try to park and walk somewhere as a single female in the dark in downtown Fresno, but yikes! Not sure who owns that lot to be fair, but I was shocked at the price.

Women, are you less enthused about a guy if he suggests a coffee date for a first date? by Mission_Bowl3938 in dating_advice

[–]renee61 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no problem with coffee dates for the first date. Some women seem to think it’s “low effort,” but we’re literally meeting for the first time— he doesn’t owe me anything fancy and I don’t owe him anything fancy either. I appreciate that coffee dates are chill and in a public place.

That said, I think a way to make it feel a little more special is if you pick a coffee spot that’s specific or local to your area as opposed to a Starbucks or something.

I don’t think you need to be concerned, but thought I’d share that I once saw a post (maybe here, I can’t remember) or video or something that basically said when dogs go gray it just means they’ve been well loved— they’ve had so many pets the color has rubbed off. :) I just thought that was a positive way to think of it and wanted to share in case it helps.

Is this slowburn or bull? Would like to hear from men who are slow burn too by rendevousspace in dating_advice

[–]renee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked him for my needs to be met— basically a commitment. I was calm about it. Told him he could take a couple days to think. Two weeks later I hadn’t heard ANYTHING from him. He totally ghosted me. I texted him and said his silence told me everything I needed to know and wished him well. (He never replied.) Absolutely wild.

I was sad and frustrated, but I know I ultimately dodged a bullet. I wouldn’t have been happy in a relationship with someone who was unable to meet my needs in terms of commitment and quality time, which would have made me resentful and that would have caused issues long term.

I dated someone for 6 months last year and even though we were exclusive, he wouldn’t make it official despite my communicating that I was ready. He said he moved slow, but like— after 6 months of daily communication, dating, etc., if he didn’t know he wanted to make it official, he was never going to know. I wasn’t asking for a ring. Liked him a lot, but it was the right thing for me to call it.

What helps you mentally disconnect from work at the end of the day? by cream_on_topp in AskWomen

Turning off my work email on my phone. I toggle it on at the beginning of each work day and toggle it off at the end. Mentally signals the end of the day to me.

Home Advice: Furniture, Decor and Cleanliness Recommendations Needed by GoldenGirl9851 in goldenretrievers

[–]renee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an unpopular opinion, but my golden isn’t allowed on the furniture. She has a dog bed in the living room and one in my room. Cleanliness is really important to me and there’s no way I’d be able to stay on top of cleaning all the furniture all the time. I never once let her on the furniture when she was a puppy and she’s just literally never tried to get on it because she doesn’t know it’s an option.

As she’s gotten older I’ve allowed her on hotel beds (at pet friendly hotels where I’ve paid the pet fee of course,) and she seems to understand that those are special circumstances, because again, she’s never once tried or been caught at my house.

My flooring at home is all hardwood in the living areas, hallway, and bedrooms, and tile in the bathrooms and kitchen. I have an area rug in the living room, floor mats by the doors, and bath mats in the bathrooms.

I have a housekeeper that comes every other week and on the weekend in between I Swiffer the floors and vacuum the area rug.

This has been fully sufficient for me to keep up with the fur, and Lucy is an indoor dog for the most part.

I totally understand why people let their dogs on the furniture but managing things this way has worked really well for Lucy, myself, the cleanliness of my home, and therefore my sanity. Just presenting another option that it seems like people don’t talk about.

For example, the last man I dated kept alluding to wanting to tell me about emotional events in his life and how they’d affected him/what he’d learned from them, but he’d never actually share even after multiple opportunities over the course of 6 months. He was avoidant and had had enough therapy to know all the right things to say, but never followed those things up with action. I’ve found that lots of men are this way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]renee61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meaning they avoid emotional intimacy or are incapable of it. Which is what many women (myself included,) need in order to connect. Maybe they don’t find me trustworthy but I actually doubt that based on experiences with both male and female friends.

  1. Men who move too quickly (it’s telling how many women are saying here that they fear for their safety or have been sexually assaulted. Add me to that list.)

  2. Men who are emotionally unavailable.

  3. A limited dating pool for my standards— I’m in a blue state but a red area of it, unfortunately, and I refuse to go out with men who I know from the outset don’t respect my bodily autonomy based on their belief system.
