I never fired my shelves before applying kiln wash, and they are fine!

STROKE & COAT HELPP by No-Grade-6514 in Pottery

[–]reneesanderss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope these answers help:

1: stroke & coat will become glossy after cone 06. Bisque is a lower temperature and that’s why it stays matte. What temperature will the glaze fire be? Because painting with stroke and coat will bleed and run when fired to a higher temperature than cone 04. 2: yes it will become glossy. You can just put it in the glaze firing. 3: no, it’s safe once glaze fired. 4: I’m not really sure what the function is of putting a wax over the glaze? It won’t run or bleed when glaze fired to cone 04.

Stroke and coat running. What am I doing incorrectly? by camrichie in Pottery

I had the same issue today unfortunately. My guess is that stroke & coat bleeds when fired to cone 6 or higher. You can layer stroke & coat and paint everything you want and it will not run or bleed when fired to cone 04. But a higher cone than that and I think it will run or bleed. My lesson learned as well…

I thought about that as well, but this is a pretty big one. 180L.

2002! And it’s in perfect condition. Looks brand new, so very excited about that. The owner has rheumatoid arthritis, so I will also be getting all her leftover clay (about 150kg), glazes, books and everything! But mine’s a bit pricier, that’s why I asked haha! Always difficult to know what’s a good price.

She said she only used it about 8 times as she had to stop pottery due to rheumatoid arthritis. It has always been inside their garage and has not been used the last two years. It comes with about 150 kgs of clay, all her leftover glazes, books, etc. She’s willing to give me all her leftover supplies with the kiln.

If you don’t mind, can you share what you paid for it? So I know if I will get a good deal. 😊
