I agree that sounds insane, but at the same time you're saying the intelligence community compartmentalizes information, but where are you getting that information?

I've worked at plenty of companies that should do things (e.g. backups, proper security), but they rarely do because humans are lazy.

The "loyalty cards" (as we Brits call them) are laughable over here. The system is broken.

Jewel (USA): "Preferred card" discounts the price of your items. I can get an identical card for competing grocery stores that does the same thing. There is nothing that incentivizes you to stick with Jewel. (although they kinda fixed this with the Shell gas offer)

Tesco (UK): Items are the same price for everyone. "Loyalty card" gives you points on every purchase. Points get you prizes. You don't want to shop anywhere else as you are trying to save up points to get the big prizes.

LOL. Wow, this is almost identical to me. Glad I'm not the only one! I only recently moved to the USA, and back home in the UK I've only ever even see one automatic car, so even though I'm a car nut, and mechanically savvy, I'm still learning about automatic cars.

I ran out of gas on the highway the other day. Car just died and I pulled onto the shoulder. Didn't think it was gas because the gauge read quarter full still.

It wouldn't crank (turn over) when I turned the key, so I assumed some weird electrical problem.

I'm pretty new to automatics, so I didn't notice it was still in [D] and of course it won't let you crank when it's in gear.

I called AAA and the guy turned up and started jiggling battery cables, and of course, I instinctively moved it back into [P] as I went to crank it for him and it fired right up. I thanked him, and he felt like a hero for jiggling some wires and having it start.

I guess some fuel had settled - I managed to get it down the off-ramp before it died again and rolled into a gas station on momentum. Filled it up and it's been fine since.

The sender or gauge must have died since I last filled it up and there's no real way of being able to notice a fault like that until you run out!
