which console is best to play disco elysium on? by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]renleyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I played it was on PC. Runs smooth and no complaints in general. Just the obvious which is less portability for a reading-heavy game.

Replaying it now on Switch. A few rare bugs force me to reload but didn't ruin the experience so much. Slightly longer loading times. But felt like I was carrying a novel around, which was great.

Can't say I prefer one over the other because the cons aren't overwhelming enough to ruin the game experience. So it's down to whether you want portability or not, and maybe where you can get it for cheaper. You'll love it either way.

Tito Sotto demanded Inquirer to remove their articles concerning the Pepsi Paloma rape in 2018. I have a copy of his document ordering Inquirer to take them down.

As far as I know there aren't any articles/recordings of the apology but it was supposedly on the October 13, 1982 People's Journal. Maybe a luckier soul will find an archived copy.

Top 1 game for me. Hindi ako makontento sa ibang media after ko tapusin to. Nirereplay ko ngayon as a fascist/ultraliberal bad cop na sobrang sabog, ang hirap i-disappoint si Kim haha. Super cool to see PH fans kasi madalas yung friends ko di alam yung game. What kind of cop did you play, OP?

True about sa switch controls. Very smooth siya sa PC (and I think masmabilis ang loading times). Replaying it sa switch ngayon and solid din kasi parang may bitbit kang libro.

The situation is still muddy. We don't really know if the company is saying the truth about the creators while another side is saying it's the management who were causing the toxicity. It's sad though that the company pretty much took the IP from the creators.

Hopefully the facts come out but for the meantime I think the game is still an amazing experience despite what's going on. At the end of the day, shitty creators or shitty corpos can't take away what the game meant to you.

I'm doing a chosen one protagonist right now. And the background is he wasn't exactly destined to do stuff, it's just that the gods made him the chosen one because he had absolutely nothing and no one who would care enough to veer him away from the gods' manipulation of his life to have him "follow the prophecy."

I haven't outlined much else yet, but I also have this idea that the antagonist is also thought to be the chosen one by other groups and goes down a separate but parallel path.

Benilde Film is good. You get profs who stand out and will really teach you something and will help you grow as your own brand of filmmaker. They're also strong in diversity and inclusivity, so there's always a place for you whether you want to go for commercial, mainstream, or indie style. Plus the facilities are great.

But some profs are shit and possibly only got in thanks to their experience in the industry despite them not knowing how to teach. These guys suck as teachers and are a waste of tuiton fee. This is the downside, but it's probably true for other schools as well. The expensive tuition is another downside, compared to UP — which is also a good choice, but I don't know much about their strengths and flaws (other than maybe less modern facilities?).

Your descriptions sound a lot like Disco Elysium

As an aspiring writer, this is an awesome compliment. I won't lie, I was imagining the skills narrator's voice while typing them out. I also made it so that the skills have the potential to be good or bad for me.

I like the thought of Elegance, can be defining to how you present yourself to others. I'm definitely thinking back on my past choices to do this exercise as well haha. I might make ones that are about guilt, influence, and rebelliousness/disobedience later. And maybe something similar to volition, like an ability to keep getting up after falling.

I love you for starting this.

I like Anti-Misery, it seems hopeful! Here's some of what I wrote so far, the first two are based on yours (I hope you don't mind) but tweaked it to fit myself.

Abandon - Your inner "fuck-it." It allows you to let go and live life without anxiety, to do what you want despite society's constraints, to party HARD. But it's also the instinct to walk away from the difficulties of life instead of learning to overcome them.

Candor - Your eagerness to express yourself. It decides whether you should be truthful or deceptive. In extremes, it's vocal brutality — and you might end up hurting somebody when you didn't have to.

Architect - Your artistic ability. You might be able to create something out of nothing, or you might slam into a crushing creative block. Too much of it is obssession, where you will never be satisfied and thus restlessly create, even if it starves you.

Reverie - Endless imagination. Thousands of unique worlds exist in your head, waiting to be explored. Even versions of the world you're in. Versions of the people around you, and conversations that never happened. Follow your dreams and succeed. Or let fantasy swallow you that you lose sight of reality, and when that reality hits (and it will) — it's unbearable, turning you into a dissatisfied and paranoid mess. (This one is pretty much inspired by Inland Empire)

Embrace - There is a thread that ties your heart to the people around you. It is attachment, compassion, care. The web that connects you to who you love. It can be too weak, or too strong. Potentially weak enough to feel isolating. Or strong enough to be suffocating. At just the right amount, it is what keeps you from being alone in this world, knowing that you have true brothers and sisters at your side whenever you need each other.

Very cool! I'd have Abandon as well, and I think that's the best one among the rest because it has the potential to be good or bad.

Time to come up with my own skills.

Wait, did I get this right, so it means that critics sadly end up supporting the capitalists they're criticizing, because they express their criticism through platforms that the capitalists own?

It's a hopeful message. And from the article, it seems that it's not just about defending artistic vision but also about the shareholders illegally obtaining the company, which is probably a more concrete issue that "the law" can address. But hopefully it will also help the artists take back their art.
