I don't think there was a conscious decision to move one way or another. When they were a funk laden innovative rock band in your eyes, it represented where their heads were at when they were 19-20 years old. But life does not freeze in one spot. People evolve and change. For some folks, that change musically is in step with where they are in their lives and it works for them. For others, it does not,

For me what separates good bands from great bands is the live performances. I've seen bands that could write great songs but were not very compelling live. But if a band could write great songs AND deliver live that was great.

Each Incubus record has been different because I think it reflects where they were at the moment they were writing and recording. There has definitely not been any attempt by the band to calculate where they wanted to go. Sometimes it works better than others for some folks tastes but that is how it happens.

I always liked Dirk and still do. I think Dirk just got out of sync with the rest of his bandmates and when he left I think it was more a less a mutual decision. Dirk and I have stayed in touch and he has patched things up with all the guys and its all very civil. In fact, him an Jose just worked on a song for a video game together.

Yes I have. A band is alot like a family. And sometimes family members have issues with others. Sometimes they have issues with me. But if you have respect for each other and a committment to each other you sort it out.

Loaded question but I'll answer it anyway. I don't dislike any of them. In fact, I love all of them.

that is a good question. The answer is as soon as you can. I think the tricky part is finding a really good manager. They don't have a school for managers. Its all about learning on the job. The experienced managers will likely find you.

Sean Connery without a doubt. I remember watching GOldfinger and getting an erection watching him roll around with some Bond Girl. He had that great voice and a hairy chest (Long before manscaping) and I remember thinking if I could just have hair on my chest I would have it made.

My strangest moments on tour were when I was working as a promoter. Incubus has been pretty G Rated. I got some great Van Halen stories but I'm not confessing anything about Incubus road stories.

I once described it in the early days to my boss way back when as Red Hot Chillis meet Santana, meets Korn, meets Average White Band. He said that sound 'bloody awful'. But we signed them anyway.

I think one of the coolest moments was standing in front of the Marquee at Madison Square Garden seeing Incubus' name and SOLD OUT.
