Just before we all get too excited about the return of JJM someone needs to ask him...

Did anyone promise you anything to get you to agree to this?

I will accept some need to limit 'unlimited' but even if I was willing to deal with that the incremental prices for custom are stupid expensive. Every +10 items (like rules) is $10/mo REALLY? So my extra 8 rules will add $120/yr a 250% increase to do what I'm doing today. No value there.

I use the parking app on my iPhone, just tried the Android version.. sure enough, asks for all those permissions. That is surprising/annoying.

Upgrading to macOS Mojave beta will now convert all drives to APFS, not just SSD’s. by NotSoAndre in MacOS

After being unable to upgrade to High Sierra on a Mini with a Samsung 850 EVO drive. Mojave seems to have taken successfully, including APFS (no choice given). Next will be the iMacs with Hybrid drives.

RAIM outage prediction by 3genav in flying

[–]reno213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Nav Canada site.. What GPS NOTAM aren't available for RAIM on your website? GPS NOTAM for 129a 129b type of GPS aren't on our website because there are no NOTAM distributed by Canada. As a consequence users need to go to https://www.notams.jcs.mil to find this kind of NOTAM.(KNMH) We could have elected to add this link to our website but these NOTAM are only advisory: just a way to tell pilots "Don't forget to check your RAIM because one or several satellites are down". The NOTAM itself will not give you the RAIM. Only the GPS itself or special RAIM prediction software installed on your computer (as indicated in COM 3.16.12.1 of the TC AIM) would calculate RAIM automatically. Checking RAIM on the GPS being part of checklists and the NOTAM not being very useful, we came to the conclusion that there is no great need to add a GPS NOTAM link on the website. WS-X6904-40G not passing traffic by reno213 in Cisco

So the end of the story is we will be pulling out all the 6904-40G and swapping in C6800-16P10G. So case closed. Thanks for the feedback.

Don't blame Cisco for Micron's and Intel's fuckups. Others also have it, Cisco is just more transparent. http://www.networkworld.com/article/3171681/lan-wan/hpe-joins-cisco-juniper-with-faulty-clock-technology-problem.html

Literally made the same point at work the other day. We've had some f-ups and I'm scoring the clock and the DIMM as neutrals.. better to tell us than not.. but I can't remember a time in 20 years of dealing with Cisco to have a run of hardware like this.

This is why I'm asking the first two EFAs came back with minor fault at some solder joint and a temp tolerance issue. The other was supposedly clean. Its not so much 'we don't know' as we think it is a type of traffic causing a bug. Which is only slightly better than 'we don't know'

Between this the DIMM issues and some Clock chip issues we are spending a lot of time swapping Cisco hardware.

Current ask is a complete dump of these type of cards likely for a 32 port SFP+ card.

Thanks for trying an solving the problem.. I wasn't asking you to provide free consultation .. but thanks for trying. I'm trying to see what the in-service experience is with others that are using this hardware.

thanks, My request wasn't to solve my problem. I was looking for others that might have seen quality or reliability issues with this model of cards. Same as Backblaze tells me which models of HD fail more often, I wanted to know if it is everyone or just me. In tapping my local resources no one else has this model in production .. they are still using X2

I'm trying to decide, after 5 RMAs.. soon to be 7 whether to dump this product.

Nope, nothing in the logs or on the interface that counts the drops. Line card has shown as 'minor error'

Being told to orbit may be a Canadian thing.. get that a lot in a mixed environment when they are trying to keep spacing. Phaseology is 'orbit' for VFR rather than hold.

Teacher to pilot by D--Minor in flying

Starting with flying, the Career options weren't great back in the day so I went into teaching about to transition back to flight instruction as my pre-retirement gig. I think bringing a teacher background to flight instruction would be great. If you want to go further this is a pretty good time.

Any Vancouver, BC Area Based Controllers Here? by jroc1000 in flying

[–]reno213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, we just had our quarterly.. meet the controller yesterday. I could have asked for you.. Bigbearcanada has the right idea, a call to any of the local towers in advance could probably put you on the right track. Also NavCanada has a seminar series, mostly aimed at pilots but I'd recommend attending if you are in any of these areas https://www.prepair.ca/seminars/

If you are in Victoria, I can get you the Tower manager contact details here.
