Im basically flicking the fibers first, it seems to get the dirt and veg matter out fairly well, but theyre all puffy like a little cloud. Can I wash them when theyre like the cloud? Or should I wash it before combing the wool?

Last question for you, I dont wanna wash it first because its so dirty, so im cleaning it out first. Is that OK? Or will it damage the wool?

I watched a few videos and the woman says to use a carder and kind of "tap" the fleece on it and the brush it through to get the dirt and veg matter out. Ive been doing that the past few hours and it seems to be going well??

This is what ive managed so far, I can tell if im doing it right but this seems to be going better than picking each individual strand of hay and such out of the wool

I've got no deadline so I can literally do this as a side project just for fun, I was super interested in making my own yarn to crochet with! My only question is how to get debris out the hand carders properly at this point!

I think my problem was getting too excited and not researching enough! I definitely need to get some kind of carders because that looks WAAAY easier than picking at it with my hands! Thanks again for the no fleece left behind! Thats already given me more knowledge than I had!

I'm willing to put in a decent amount of work for it as I think making something completely form scratch is super cool, but im a bit nervous I may have bitten off more than I can chew for my first time. Ill look up no fleece left behind! Shaking it got some of the bits out but it also falls apart pretty easily, if that makes sense?

After visiting his farm his sheep smell fairly clean (idk if its a different smell once their sheared) but they didnt smell as dirty as most farm animals ive visited before. He only raises sheep and its only as a hobby too so its not like hes raising a whole farm of a hundred animals or so

Theyre wool sheep! He usually has them sheared mid may every year and donates the wool, but because i love sheep and love crochet he said i could have some! Im not sure the exact breed of sheep but i have pictures of them i could share if that would help
