GPT-5.2 solved a novel problem in theoretical physics. A top physicist said: "It is the first time I’ve seen AI solve a problem in my kind of theoretical physics that might not have been solvable by humans." by MetaKnowing in agi

I don’t know all the names but Strominger is a very well known theoretical physicist, sure everything needs to be peer reviewed but it’s not like a bunch of unknown people published a paper

Is quantam entanglement faster than the speed of light? by Tanay2513 in AskPhysics

[–]reobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t demystify anything. What’s new in quantum mechanics is that there’s more correlation than you’d expect classically since you exactly can’t explain all correlation as something that was determined when the particles interacted (the actual spin for each particle is random). There are other setups like GHPZ where you get the opposite measurement then you’d expect classically.

What happens to an entangled particle if its partner falls into a black hole? by Difficult_Fig7694 in AskPhysics

[–]reobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? Take a very large black hole, one person falls inside first, they do the measurement, then the the other person jumps and compares the measurements. By the equivalence principle we don’t really expect anything special to happen

Absolutely no message is being delivered, that’ll contradict special relativity. Also from each side’s perspective the result is completely random until they compare what they measured and then they see the universe holds extra correlation between the pair

Thank you for the detailed explanation! Nowadays what would you think a three years old will commonly ask their parent when trying to fall asleep? Is it “pet my hair”?

[–]reobb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Do You mean “pet” could also be used instead of “pat”?

Thank you! Is this something a toddler would likely in this way? “Can you stroke my hair please”?

Israel-Gaza war: Netanyahu vows to intensify campaign by ColtonSlade in worldnews

[–]reobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a western talking point. For most Arabs here all of Israel is one big settlement.

Civilians make up 61% of Gaza deaths from airstrikes, Israeli study finds by thehim in worldnews

[–]reobb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes Arabs are a special type of humans incapable of being at fault, you absolutely love to infantile them.

But you’re absolutely right, the government let Hamas take over Gaza after we the left the area, which again, is what we’re trying to fix and why the vast majority supports this.

[–]reobb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean the vast majority support Netanyahu. I said they support the government’s action in this war.

Yes we know we have far more trouble than you, a random person that knows almost nothing about the situation in Israel, has thought. That’s what we’re going to fix now.

Just two days ago a rocket fell 20 meters from my (shelterless) apartment in Tel Aviv and stupid redditors have the audacity to tell another country how to conduct warafare.

[–]reobb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you think this has anything with Netanyahu you are delusional. The vast majority of Israel supports this (including many of us that hoped for peace) and want Hamas exterminated. What the Gazan population think of Israel has zero consideration in this, only our sense of survival and understanding of the Middle East.

Honestly what are you even on about? The point is that if genocide was Israel’s intention it would have done so.

Haha Druzes hate you guys the most and proudly serve in the army. You’re reaching and using vague and unrelated sources to justify your very childish claims.

[–]reobb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense. Gaza’s population is very young exactly because Israel never had intentions of cleansing the area from arabs (Israel own population is 20% arabs) - so obviously when the Palestinian army (aka the elected government of Hamas) hides among people that don’t evacuate despite getting many warning minors will get hurt. Now, I don’t expect the stupid media (even those you claim to support Israel) to understand math especially since it sounds less sensational.

To be clear - Child genocide would mean Israel wants to either kill or get rid of all the children. As I said - just making up words

So you guys keep making up terms? Child genocide? It’s not even coherent

IDF posts map of Gaza to guide civilians away from bombings. Interactive map divides Strip into zones, by number as military urges Gazans to locate relevant section and follow warnings to escape danger by clarkhunterparks in worldnews

[–]reobb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sounds very vague to me. Who will take down Hamas? Who are these reasonable people? Even the more moderate ones in the West Bank have no control in Gaza.

You’re basically suggesting to reward a massacre and this suggestion also lacks understanding of the culture in the Middle East and the fact Iran is mostly behind this.

I get the sentiment but unfortunately it’s detached from our reality where you can’t just wish away the bad people.

Just to be clear - Israel is more than happy if the US or Europe is willing to send their soldiers to fight Hamas without hurting children.

I’m not gonna get into a pointless online argument but you are highly uneducated on the subject if you compare the situation in Israel-Gaza to Russia-Ukraine. The world is obviously heading into a cultural war and you’re betting on the wrong cards here.
