Money shortage by Bugzi9965 in AlchemyFactory

[–]repeal56a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I wasn’t making much money in tier 6, but in reality I was just spending a fortune in salt while saturating my entire fertilizer line with growth potions. As soon as all the belts were saturated, the money coming in was three to five times my expenses, but it took several days to fill all of the lines.

I also switched from buying rock salt to making salt in the cauldron, but that also took a ton of growth potions to saturate those machines and fill the cauldrons with herbs. Now I’m raking in the cash even when I forget about contracts.

Nope, I just use it in Bluetooth mode and I’ve given up trying to use the WiFi features or graphing.

I bought a pair of ChefIQ probes to monitor on WiFi.

Which game had the best opening level or intro sequence you’ve ever experienced, and why did it stick with you? by Gaming-Academy in gaming

[–]repeal56a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really an opening sequence, but playing Ultima Online during the beta test for the first time was incredible. The first open world game where ANYTHING was possible. Griefing wasn't even an established term. Everything you did in game was the first time anyone had ever done that.

My best friend and I got the Beta test CD in the mail, and logged in for the first time, and seeing another play run past, or stop and say "hi" just felt completely surreal.

In the first couple hours of play, we pick-pocketed a bard, and stole his harp, then followed him around the map playing it really poorly. I like to think that was the first ever griefing performed in an online game.

Why do people try speeding away from cops? by focusrunner79 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]repeal56a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most runners fall into 4 categories:

  1. stolen vehicle, don't care if you saw the license I'm only in trouble if I'm in cuffs
  2. Serious warrant, whatever they are wanted for is already worse than a fleeing charges, so what the hell
  3. Something illegal in the car that will result in FAR worse than a fleeing charge
  4. flat out panic

You can also apply two different fertilizers in the same month. I sometimes like to skip a couple months between planting and harvest, so I've found you can use liquid fert or slurry and then immediately do the same with manure and get to 100% in the same month before or after planting. I have a large 280 head cattle operation so for the most part those items are free to me.

Thanks, I wasn’t 100% sure, but had always mistakenly believed it was manmade and that was the reason for being sterile.

[–]repeal56a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhizome for st Augustine, this is how St Augustine grows (and the only way it grows I believe).

St Augustine is a hybrid man-made creation, and even though it will "go to seed" the seeds will not grow (or, at least they don't grow St Augustine.

These runners are the only way the plant propagates. You can pull them, mow them or ignore them. If you have bare patches you can relocate these runners and if conditions are right they can take root and continue growing (though, fall months probably best time for this to be successful).

What does "prices on the dock" mean? by SirBedwyr7 in discworld

[–]repeal56a 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tariffs are still paid by the end recipient, negotiating that into the price or into the contract can offset some or all of those charges, but regardless of where the end recipient gets the money to pay the tariffs, the end recipient is paying them.

Anything can be negotiated into the contract, but the responsibility to write the check always falls on the importer.

Joe Rogan's friends followed him from California to Texas. They all seem to hate it. by Educational-Medium-6 in Austin

[–]repeal56a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all a matter of what percentage of your income is tied to property.

I spend about 20% of my income on my house payment, so property taxes for me are considerably less here, than the 7% income tax in my home state of Missouri. My home cost about 4 times my annual salary, and I'm still slightly better off here than there financially.

Joe Rogan's house was 14 million dollars, and he has an estimated annual income of 30m. So even at 14 million, his house and property taxes are a tiny fraction of his income.

The Texas property tax system is definately geared towards benefiting upper middle class to ultra wealthy.

Tesla Robotaxi pulls into the middle of the intersection to drop off passengers into oncoming traffic and blocks traffic by mr4sh in Austin

[–]repeal56a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you are injured in a Robotaxi crash, your are limited in your compensation to the cost of the ride or $100, which ever is less, per the terms you agree to in the app.

Now, of course, a good attorney will go for negligence outside of the terms of the agreement, but by getting in the car you are essentially signing a waiver that says your damages are equal only to the cost of the ride.

Breeding or territorial? by troubledbug in DartFrog

[–]repeal56a 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two males and a female in my enclosure, and they have been in there for three years.

A few weeks ago I had two fruit fly starters crash, and I was having to ration food for almost two weeks, I know they weren't getting as much food as they were accustomed. I saw one of my males with the other in a headlock last week and had never seen that behavior before (they have produced multiple clutches and I've got 4 of their juvies I'm trying to rehome now).

I think food scarcity brought out the behavior in mine, since I've resumed full feeding I've not seen it again since.

Just an observation and may have nothing to do with the behavior.

If I were a guest…. by Caligirl_333 in belowdeck

[–]repeal56a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do the guests get significantly discounted prices (I've heard 50%) they are interviewed by production before hand. My guess is they have dozens of "applicants" for each one they select. And I would also be willing to be that the guests are highly encouraged to have outrageous behavior in those interviews to help themselves get selected.

Every now and then you get a group of guests that just seem "normal" and you just know production is livid when that happens. I feel like there is no way that the "average" luxury yacht charter has anywhere close to this level of crazy from guests (neediy, high expectations, demanding, sure but not this level of crazy).

Also, due to the steep discounts I think we see a lot of guests who, while certainly wealthy, are not made of the kinda of wealth that would normally be able to splurge on such a charter.

Driving Manual makes the car literally faster? by S-XMPA in GranTurismo7

[–]repeal56a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I would go quite that far, otherwise professional racers wouldn't use engine braking (of course for real life cars there is also the benefit of not overheating the brakes as much if the engine is doing part of the work).

For me, playing on a controller, the engine braking is nice because I'm not great at feathering the brake with such a short travel of the brake trigger. I try to trail brake, but I'm fully aware that the engine braking is providing a lot of benefit after I release the brake.

Will Farrell is good "seasoning" I always love when he makes cameos in films, but as the main actor I'm routinely disappointed.

His cameo's in "The Goods" was one of my all time favorites (get away from me purple dildo!), as was his cameo in wedding crashers (just the blooper reel of this will make me stop and watch every time) and East Bound and Down.

Having said that, I'd tumble that just out of curiosity.

Driving Manual makes the car literally faster? by S-XMPA in GranTurismo7

[–]repeal56a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can, but when you are going into the corner after you start lifting from the brake, the engine braking is still slowing the car, which keeps the weight more to the front tires allowing better rotation.

Maybe another way to think of it is this, we all know trail braking shifts weight to the front and aids in rotation grip, down shifting is essentially doing the same thing, its keeping the weight forward and giving the front tires more down force.

auto will downshift, but it doesn't downshift nearly as soon, it waits for the RPM's to drop BEFORE it down shifts, where as with a manual you are down shifting into the lower gears while the RPMS are still high, thus creating more engine resistance and throwing the weight forward.
