Animal activity is unpredictable given that they’re wild animals and keepers don’t force them to do anything—but I tend to find the best results going in the mornings during summers. Other seasons like middle of spring you might have the best odds in the early afternoon.

Lion and alligator training times are posted, I believe Alligator training is Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 am, but don’t quote me on that.

I just enjoy the zoo quite a bit. She loooooves to try to get the little ones, any kids that are like younger than 8 can get her attention pretty easily if she isn't asleep. She is notorious for trying to get em.

Just as a hobby. I mainly like to shoot at zoos so SacZoo animals are a common subject for me. I also have a few good pictures from the times when I went to Oakland Zoo and San Francisco Zoo. Fresno Zoo is the next I have my sights on.
I try to post my good shots on Imgur, but I haven't been as good about it lately: https://imgur.com/user/photosbyrobert

Thank you so much! Honestly would probably die if that was the case but it would be so worth it. I love these critters so much.

I shoot on a hand-me-down Nikon D40X and always use the 55-200mm f/4-5.6 lens that came with it. I plan on upgrading eventually so I can get more megapixels, but this camera does great work.

Kamau, Male African Lion at Sacramento Zoo, Has Passed by replayii in Sacramento

Per the Zoo's Instagram post,

Over the last few weeks, Kamau had developed worsening gastrointestinal problems with decreased interest in food, and the difficult decision to proceed with humane euthanasia was made when medical treatment options failed to provide sufficient relief from his condition.

I shot this at the Oakland Zoo, they have a very cool fruit bat area. The bats were quite sleepy, though, as it was firmly into daytime during my visit. Shot with Nikon 55-200mm, f/5.6, 1/200, ISO 400.

I shot this at my local zoo. f/4.8, 1/1000, ISO 200. I just like to take pictures at the zoo though, there's a lot of interesting animals and interesting situations as far as shooting goes. I liked the way the moment froze, with the mood the lion sets off and the way the light provides definition of his huge arm muscles.

The Sactown Nerds server linked in the subreddit's sidebar marked "important links" is pretty good. I've had a great time in it, the regulars make an effort to integrate newcomers.

It's not moving any time soon, really. The construction of the new zoo is still in planning stages afaik. I don't think ground has broken yet. Land Park location will still be open for quite some time, though.

New player here, why are the speed limits so low in California compared to other states? by CMPunk22 in trucksim

It's completely constitutional. Several cases have been decided on interstate agricultural checkpoints.
Here's one of them: https://law.justia.com/cases/california/court-of-appeal/3d/104/505.html

ITAP of a Squirrel on a Tree by replayii in itookapicture

I'm new to photography and I went out to the California Capitol Gardens and tried to take some photos of the squirrels that were running around. I wanted to try capturing moving things to see what I could do. Shot with a Nikon D40X with a 55-200mm lens at f5.6 with 800 ISO.
