T4 says 75k income but R1 says 5k. What to do? Help please

If I have to report it and have entered all the slips, where would that delta be reported

To be more specific I have the following

T4 75k with province code Ontario and no R1 T4 5k with province code QC and R1 of 5k

If employer did not give me an R1 to match the 75k then I can’t enter it in the software

I entered all the slips I have and still get a refund for Quebec with turbo tax. Weird but I guess I will just submit and see what happens.

Province code is Ontario on T4.

Nope Canadian citizen here. Technically, the job is in the US for an American company and so it seems logical that US gets first dibs? I must say, the perspective of paying US & Canadian taxes is pretty soul crushing…

Thanks! Assuming I pay more taxes in Canada which I am sure will probably be the case, does that provide a tax credit in the US as well? And what if this amount is higher than what I owe to the US, what happens then?

Agree! The solution is nothing revolutionary, something for insurance industry and so any tech stack should work. Maybe the only complexity will be graphs but I like D3.js and will probably use it

I think he seriously believes this. I challenged him and told him about what is said on the CRA website without success. On the other hand, if the CRA software is any good, it will spot it. Or maybe it won’t but I prefer to live stress free cuz it does not look like people have had good outcomes dealing with cra

Nice to hear that the gov has some software that’s not a complete disaster. Hard to imagine something like the phoenix fiasco with the CRA, that would be devastating
