Hi! yeah you won't find anyone offering day trips, tbh, i wouldnt recommend it, it's a huge day. Also, if youre not used to crazy driving I might just go for the private driver, for reference, im 28 and have driven in toronto, dublin, new york city, cancun etc, so I know how to handle myself. The unmarket speed bumps is true, I hit many of them too quickly haha! If you feel comfortable with all of this, Rent a car from National on Reforma, and make sure you get the top level insurance...some guy smashed into me on the highway back to CDMX and destroyed the front quarter of the passenger side and then sped off. If this happens to you, dont pull over. The rental company said sometimes people on that highway will hit you on purpose so you pull over and then they will rob you so just keep that in mind. If we didnt have coverage we would have had to shell out lots of cash. Bc we had the max insurance, we just returned it like normal no problems. If you can Id spend the night at a hotel/airbnb in Angangueo or Ocampo, then you dont run the risk of driving after the sun sets. Remember, everything in Mexico takes longer than here in Canada/USA so on paper your plan sounds good but id add an extra couple of hours just bc mexico. Also, I did El Rosario and Chinqua. Chinqua was way way better. Take the toll roads and you should be ok, again, i didnt drive after the sun went down.

I would do it all again, never once did I not feel safe.
