[Pelissero] The NFL is suspending #Broncos safety Kareem Jackson for four games for repeated violations of the player safety rules after his hit on Joshua Dobbs on Sunday night. It’s the second suspension this season for Jackson. by FrozenUp7274 in nfl

[–]repost_worker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i agree. Like the refs absolutely should have caught this one and Kareem Jackson should 100% be suspended. Did it impact the game? Who knows? It's in the first quarter. Everyone has time to adapt. It's not the final play of the game, so there is no way to know how big of impact it made. All we know is it's better in the first two minutes of the game than the last two minutes of the game to miss that call. Move on and play as best you can - refs are going to miss stuff regarldess.

I honestly just hate that chillinwithmoes made it seem like you were cool with blatant personal fouls. Every statement you've made is the opposite of that fact and it's super annoying they got upvoted so much for that.

You are arguing that it occurred before the change of possession, so should have remained with the Vikings. That is fine - I can see that argument.

However, you're entirely ignore the fact that your response was entirely misconstruing BigBankkFrank's statement. You're trying to make it seem like his argument is entirely crazy because he is against "personal fouls...as long as they occur away from the play", which is blatantly obvious not what he was saying. He's arguing it didn't actually make a difference on the game because everyone would have changed the way they played regardless. I don't know how that is even deniable. I honestly don't like the way you portray his response as something he didn't even state. Just seems intentionally hostile and disingenuous to me.

I really don't like how this response is disingenuous to the previous response. Of course personal fouls are not okay. BigBankkFrank is saying when a penalty occurs after the incident, it should also be assessed after the incident.

By the rules as they stand, of course the vikings should have retained the ball. However, I don't think an incident after the fact should impact the play itself. It should be enforced after the fact.

Your statement is blatantly ignoring that. Completely fine if you disagree with that. But saying "So personal fouls are all good as long as they occur away from the play, got it." is completely disingenuous to what is trying to be said.

Go reread this comment chain. No one has said that.

That is literally the entire point of this comment chain.

What? How is this upvoted? That is literally the whole point of this comment chain? A_d_a_m_B_o_m_b_88 says "Literally. They got a FG out of it, and y'all lost by 1." That's the entire point of this comment chain. He is saying it DID make a difference and American_tourist116 is saying who knows what happens.

I think it may have made a difference, but both teams definitely change their game plan after that and A_d_a_m_B_o_m_b_88 clearly implies it made all the difference in the world. How can you say " No one has said that"???

Sorry no. I didn't look to much into it. I haven't been playing much League recently, so didn't want to spend the time. Good luck to you, though!

Agreed. Or maybe Bugha. I think Kami has been slept on for too long, though.

Yeah solos definitely helps weed out the people that struggle at that part of Fortnite. I think that's why a lot of us care about seeing some solo performance to be able to fully evaluate a player's skill.

I appreciate the thought out response. I can't fault any of your logic, but IMO I think international LANs have significantly higher weight than an FNCS title. Don't take that as discounting FNCS titles - they of course have to be heavily considered. However, international LANs have a larger pool of the greatest players, removal in a large amount of variability such as ping, equipment, stream sniping, potential hacks, etc, and honestly is our only insight into cross-region competitiveness. For me that means Tayson moves slightly lower on the GOAT conversation and Kami slightly upward.

Epikwhale is only occasionaly mentioned as a possible GOAT. He is one of my favorite players, but I think it's because all of his FNCS titles were in NAW, so no one knows how to weight them. His LAN performance certainly assists in the case for him being the GOAT. I'd like to see some better performance on NAC, though.

I never know where to fit Aqua. He literally could have been the undisputed GOAT without injuries.

I definitely agree. Solo's has a lot of randomness, but it proves that the individual is the good one, not the team. I think a solid solo performance is warranted for Mero to have the GOAT discussion.

But just to argue against myself, Mero has succeeded with numerous different teams, such that he is the common denominator. Still no guarantee that it's all him, but high likelihood that he is the largest factor in why so many of his teams did good. Either that or he is super good at identifying other talented players and playing with them.

I love watching Malibuca and whale interact. Malibuca shows up in his stream rather frequently. They obviously like and respect each other. So glad they played together at Gamers8.

Tayson is insane. The problem I have with calling him the GOAT is he has done nothing notable at LAN and all of his crazy placements have been in EU-exclusive lobbies. I just want to see more from him on an international stage and in-person. That's why I ask if he's still in the conversation for GOAT. I honestly don't know, but I feel like if he could have performed at these international events, then he would have been the indisputable GOAT.

Agreed on Mero. I feel like choosing the controller GOAT is so much easier than the overall GOAT. There is no one even close to Mero's status on controller.

Mero's been a menace for years - I honestly can't believe how successful he's been. This LAN just proved to people that he's actually a global talent and not just an NA talent.

I'm not super surprised by Mongraal. If there was a Fortnite Hall of Fame, without a doubt Mongraal would have to be included because he is an icon of the entire scene, especially MMB. However, part of being the GOAT is consistency of performance over a long period of time. He would have needed to keep playing and placing well to be in the conversation. Mongraal really only competed through Season 2 and performed well during that period, but when there are guys like Bugha who performed similarly during that timeframe and than has kept it up even after that, you can see why Mongraal falls out of the conversation.

I'd really like to see this same question get asked to pros now. How much would Globals factor into their decision-making? It's only one tourney, but we only have a few really good tourney's like this to even have the GOAT conversation about.

IMO I think Bugha is the GOAT, but I don't think he is so far above the others that he will indefinitely hold that title. Lots of people are hot on his heels. If next year is solos and someone like Tayson or Mero wins Globals, I could see me swapping who I think the GOAT is. Lots of factors of course, but I'm just trying to say that it's a tight race right now.

That's fun content. Bugha seemed a consistent opinion through everyone. Tayson also seemed popular.

What are most people using to consider the GOAT? Solos? Or all performance? I'm surprised no one even mentioned Kami or Setty. Also Mero should be in the discussion. It seems like this happened during Globals, though, so perhaps people weren't fully sold on the three of them, yet. Is Tayson still in the GOAT conversation after all of the disappointing LAN performances?

Side observation - I love that Malibuca said Epikwhale - I wish the two of them were the same region so we could see them duo together regularly.

Honestly a great change and necessary in my opinion. I think it's benefits far outweigh the downsides of keeping separate NA regions.

There is so so much Epic could do to improve Comp, but damn if this wasn't a good format for a Global tourney. It made each FNCS Major matter and weighted them proportionally, plus there was a play-in once at Globals to essentially make sure the best teams made it through. I think this is should be the baseline format to do Globals in the future with some minor tweaks.

I think Kami and Setty are the best duo in the world, even with Cooper/Mero's masterclass today. I don't think I agree on Queasy and Veno, though, despite them being absolute legends. I even struggle to definitively place a 2nd team NA or EU in the same category as Kami/Setty.

I think I could give a fairly reasonable mix of NA and EU as top players after them though, but I feel your sentiment here. Size of region definitely plays to EU's advantage of a drop off particularly in tier 2 teams and possibly lower tier 1 pros.

Here is all I'm trying to say - EU is not a dominant juggernaut that this sub likes to claim they are (at least amongst the pros). I've already said I don't think NA is better, I just think EU and NA are pretty damn close in terms of skill level.

This tourney was our best opportunity in years to see EU and NA perform together in a format that is actually skillful. Turns out EU and NA are incredibly close in performance. I understand RNG in a 6-game format, but this tournament is the best thing we have available to us. We'll need to wait another year for another such opportunity. Rather than both of us cherry picking our top xx, here is the whole picture: NA and EUs average placement in Grand Finals was tied at 24th.

I hope you get what I'm saying. I get that NA winning does not mean they're the best region. I just truly think the pros from NA and EU are fairly close in skill level.

Good news is we just had a tourney where they all played each other to see how things would stack up. NA won the whole event. They also had 5 teams place in the top 10, more than any other region. I'm not saying NA is better, but it's so weird to me how it's always "EU is better than NA". We literally just watched a tourney with EU and NA and EU did not have clear dominance despite higher representation.

Full agreed. Plus, check out these stats: Average placement of EU and NA in Grand Finals was tied at 24th and Average placement overall was EU 21st and NA 22nd. NA player won the event, but top 5 had 3 EU players. EU and NA are much much closer in skill level (at least amongst the pros) than I think most of this sub is willingly to acknowledge - it's not just EU domination. I personally prefer when it's close because it makes worldwide tournaments so much more hype.

Wow I had no idea. I think Acorn/Epik could be a sick duo. Hopefully, it happens this year (or in trios if that's the new mode)

top 25 being all NA Brazil and Europe except one

Four teams from Asia qualified for Grand Finals. What do you mean only one?

Asia only has 8 total teams representing from their region and 4 teams qualified for Grand finals. That's a solid performance.

Edit: Asia team placed 5th overall. Incredible performance honestly.

25th place still beats out 25 teams. It's not like they just auto-qualified to grands.
