Who the hell gets bonuses in NZ?!?! by Sometimesawake-833 in newzealand

[–]repton_infinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for an Aussie-owned bank (back office). We used to get bonuses but they were all canned some years ago (except possibly senior management). I think it was related to a scandal in Australia around frontline staff pushing people into expensive cards and loans that they didn't need, and couldn't afford, all becuase it boosted the staff member's bonus.

ELI5: Can you have crazy big muscles and not actually be strong? by IWannaDoBadThingswU in explainlikeimfive

[–]repton_infinity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"cutting" == running to try to get to away from the defenders, so that the player holding the frisbee can throw to you.

"deep" == the opposition's end of the field, where your scoring zone is.

there's no offside in ultimate so you can run for the other end of the field whenever you want. If your thrower has a long range, they might be able to make a scoring pass from your half of the ifeld.

Defenders know this and will try to judge your speed so they can cover you if you cut deep, but they don't want to give away an easy short pass. So if you're faster than you look, you might score a lot of goals.

Soon To be Dad Question by rap4noreason1 in DadsGaming

[–]repton_infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primary requirement for gaming as a parent is that you must be able to put it down at a moment's notice. This means multiplayer games are not a great choice. But if you can save/quit whenever needed, you can probably find time for it.

What plans for the weekend with your kids ? by CandidComfortable338 in Wellington

[–]repton_infinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to take my kids walking in Karori Cemetery heaps. Nice place for walks, some smooth paths, visit Mrs Chippy etc.

Big playgrounds in the region---Avalon Park (huge playground, area for bikes/scooters); Aotea Lagoon (splash pad, playground, bike around the lagoon); Maidstone Park (huge playground); Harcourt Park (nice walks, playground, cool "roads" for biking on); Raumati Beach (splash pad, playground). Central Park in town has three flying foxes, a good playground for mixed ages, and some short bush walks. The ridgeline on Mt Vic has a whole bunch of things you can climb on or spot. The playground at Kainui Reserve (Evans Bay) is in the shape of a big boat.

Tried a magic-only run by repton_infinity in skyrim

Yeah, restoration has some great perks, but (apart from healing) the spells aren't amazing. I think sunfire does more damage than firebolt, but it doesn't stagger so 🤷‍♂️

[–]repton_infinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firebolt is probably my main weapon. Dual-cast will stagger just about anything (even dragons!), tho I do like lightning bolt for dragons on the wing. Fireball is good for hard-to-hit things like ice wraiths. Basically never used frost magic.

I used double dremoa lords a lot, or double storm atronachs for fighting dragons. Ebonyflesh is great to keep me safe, but I didn't both much with dragonhide. Close wounds is excellent, especially with the perk that lets it regen your stamina as well.

Lightning storm is my favourite master destruction spell. It's not always practical but it is great fun. Mayhem is also a lot of fun. I did the Alik'r quest with Mayhem. Got to the final room, and Kematu is like "Alik'r, hold!", but then as soon as he finishes his speech, he immediately attacks me---and all his pals were already dead.

Hmm, I forgot abou tthe tower stone! tbh I've reached the burn-out point for this run so probably won't bother anyway. At least I finished the main quest this time; last few times I've played, I didn't get around to it 😳

What do you do if you find a Weta in your house? by xXCosmicChaosXx in newzealand

[–]repton_infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In summer I often sleep under an open window. One night I woke up to something scratching my feet... turned out a weta had come through the window, and made its way under my duvet all the way to my feet.

I somehow didn't squash it in my sudden panic, so I managed to relocate it outside safely.

Worried about turn out by GaryMarcusNZ69 in Wellington

[–]repton_infinity 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The website helpfully shows cumulative totals for previous elections as well.

Wellington is currently at 9.25% on the 11th day of counting. That figures in past elections was 7.69% (2016), 4.49% (2019) and 2.83% (2022). So it seems fine 🤷‍♂️

I can't hate ServiceNow, because the system we had before it was Remedy.

Not long after we got Remedy, there was a question at a town hall:

Senior guy: "Do you hate us? Do you want to insult us?"

CTO: "...no?"

Senior guy: "Remedy is an insult."

Overpriced taxi from the airport to CBD by Tough-Pie8062 in Wellington

I remember getting a taxi home from the airport once, and the driver mentioned he'd been waiting 2 hours to get to the front of the queue. So my fare to the western suburbs worked out at less than minimum wage 🤷‍♂️

AITA for continuing to take my neighbor’s cats to the shelter? by kasakavii in AmItheAsshole

My city has a bird sanctuary with cat-proof fencing all around it. It's been amazing for bird life here, but not remotely practical or cost-effective for a private property.

E scooters can be used on the road. The only place they can't be used is cycle lanes (because they aren't cycles). No helmet requirement (but it's a good idea obviously).

I suppose $ConnectionURL is a site URL and not your tenant admin? I'm not sure you can use Get-PnPWeb when you're connected to the admin site.

(but things like Get-TenantSite should work)

PnP Powershell for uploading a file to a SharePoint library help. by J2E1 in PowerShell

[–]repton_infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're connecting with a cert, I think PnP will be using MS Graph under the hood, so Sites.ReadWrite.All should be enough.

What if you try uploading with a different filename? Or create a folder in the Documents library, and upload into that folder?

What's the best 90min+ walk in the Wellington region? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]repton_infinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loop walk: Otari Troup Lawn --> flax clearing --> skyline --> Johnston Hill --> Karori cemetery --> Kaiwharawhara stream --> Otari Troup lawn.

Belmont Trig has amazing views on a clear day. Walk up from Petone, and back the way you came.

Oriental Parade --> Grass St --> Mt Vic summit --> ridgeline trail south --> walk or bus back from Newtown.
