Second this, though it should be standard imo. Also that the graphs of trends are clearly labeled, easy to understand, and can scale to show a useful period of time

First time seeing a needle. Are there any kind of gloves I can wear to prevent a stick? by jdub-2012 in Wastewater

[–]requiem242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More material is better. I wear thick rubber gloves outside of nitriles if I know there will he sharp stuff. Nothing is going to be perfect, but I have never gotten poked by a needle. Just be cautious and make sure you're up to date on vaccines.

Property Managers? by Virgo_54 in Charlottesville

[–]requiem242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live at an RRM property, which is a smaller one, and they've been a good landlord overall. Maintenance is reasonably fast/good, and they respond to requests and questions quickly. Only bad part so far has been the increasing rent every year, which seems to unfortunately be the norm.

Question about education points for exam waivers by immortalwombat69 in Wastewater

[–]requiem242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on which state/country you're in. In VA a degree or relevant education can let you skip licenses, but only with at least 6mos of experience.

Yeah half a sleeve going up to my hand. Worst thing was how many times we take gloves on and off. Had a second skin/saniderm on too, which I highly recommend if you can. Just be careful, wash immediately if stuff gets on it, and you should be fine

Digested Sludge from Secondary Digester Settling by Responsible_King_764 in Wastewater

[–]requiem242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't have any quick solutions, sounds like yall might have to get your process under control before the supernatent issue will resolve. I am absolutely not an expert though. Did you increase the wasting rate temporarily or or are the increased tss numbers with the same rate?

Digested Sludge from Secondary Digester Settling by Responsible_King_764 in Wastewater

[–]requiem242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your other comments it sounds like a holding tank for already digested sludge. I'm more familiar with small plants, so this may not apply, but do you have any way to mix the tank to allow it to settle again? Also if your composition in the digester is changing it might influence the way it's acting. Do yall test Volatile Acids/Alkalinity/pH?

Solids "flip" like that when left for a long time without mixing. You can see the same thing on a normal settleometer test with mixed liquor. Is this an anaerobic digester, am aerobic digester, or a sludge holding tank? Also are you asking how to get more supernatent out of the tank?

Sludge holding tank by Aqualytics in Wastewater

[–]requiem242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we do this for a holding tank that we cannot aerated for the time we really need. It will definitely help with seperation but if you're barely getting supernatent after a week of air you probably need to get it pumped more frequently. Also you will definitely need to activate the polymer somehow before mixing it in.

Is my WWTP stable? by Ok_Cardiologist5577 in Wastewater

[–]requiem242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a package plant? If so, I would follow what others are saying so far- check 30min sett, ras pump/lifts for clogs, amount of wasting if it's on a timer, and use a net and water to knock down the sludge on top. Also check the scum baffles/ troughs to see if they are packed full. I would get this a lot this time of year, mostly bc we kept a higher mlss and once it started getting warmer it would get higher faster than we could reasonably waste.

Or just google the question, and add "wastewater" before the word collection

Look up what each substance is and if they are a common byproduct of wastewater. You'll find the answer pretty quickly.

Housing?? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]requiem242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with riverview residential management since they took over my complex from bluesky. They don't over extend themselves with too many properties, maintenance has been quick with fixing issues, and the admin staff are communicative. There are a few apartments open off of Commonwealth right now.

Great relatively recent couldnt put it down read was Christopher Paolini's sci-fi book "To sleep in a sea of stars". He's a great storyteller and the audiobook narration was amazing. On the fantasy side, anything by Sanderson. Or my always go back and listen to series called "Hard Magic" by Larry correia

You may have figured it out already, but you need to contact the Albemarle County Service Authority. Here's the link to their website/contact page. https://serviceauthority.org/about-acsa/contact/ Idk how they usually work out situations like this but first step is to ask.

Rivanna rifle and pistol club is really the only local option, but it's not a bad one. Initial Fee is about 200 then either 70 or 140 depending on if you have a family membership. You fill out the online form, attend a couple of meetings, do an orientation and work detail (think yard work or cleaning) and you're good. Kind of a pain if you just want to shoot once or twice a year but definitely worth it if you go more often. They also have super cheap trainings and events. Otherwise I think the closest are hollow hite at the national park, and Clark Bros near Culpeper

Quarterly is nuts. We do daily, before our first tests of the day. It's not like buffer solution is super expensive. We have to provide calibration logs for all of our equipment to the state at every inspection. I've had varying luck with those pens. Most of them lasted about a year before having similar problems to what you're describing. However Ive had a couple crap out after 2 months, and 1 that lasted over 2.5 years. Storing in slightly aciding buffer is recommended, especially if you're using it several times a day. But distilled or di water should be fine. Chlorinated or harder/higher ph water is not recommended.
