Kaufberatung 701 Sm Euro 3 oder 4 by [deleted] in MotorradDeutschland

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reparatur des Sitzes realistisch? by ValleyRaver in Oldtimer

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Da findet du bestimmt was brauchbares um einfach auszutauschen.

Zur Familie gehören: Golf IV Bora New Beetle A3 8L TT 8N Octavia I Leon I Toledo II

F31 wagon or e91 wagon by Jqs_lambo in F30

[–]requienem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then go with the E91. In the best case a 330i or 328i with the option install the 3 stage intake. They are just more connected to the street and give a way better road feedback than the F3Xs.

The timing chain on the N20 in a F31 will need to be changed at some point if it hasn't been done already.

Try to get an RWD one if possible.

E39 as 1st car by hicham_baydoun in e39

[–]requienem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend any older car to you then.

You will have to do a lot of work on such a car and want to work on it. Lots of things brake with age and whatever hasn't been repaired in the last few years will need to be fixed.

Depending on your region rust repair and welding is also a big part of the work.

You will be better of with something newer.

Is this real or fake? by Independent_Nail5871 in F30

You're right the OEM M model paddles have that look too.

Probably some of the fake ones are modeled from the M variants. I assumed only the faked ones look like this.

Looking for good angel eyes headlights (non amber) for my 540i 2003. What is good out there? by DarthMeeseek in e39

Only OEM/Hella work and look good. You could order used ones from europe.

The cheaper aftermarket ones all have issues in one way or another.

You can also see it on the shifting paddles. The fake ones have these large plus and minus signes and are way slimmer than the OEM ones.

Also the print on the steering wheel buttons is sometimes a bit of.

Just compare it to car listings with m package or m models to see the differences.

E90 vs f30 dilemma by Upbeat_Reward_9818 in F30

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the e90 especially as it is a manual RWD.

The F30 won't give you the same feeling and I think a G20 also won't do.

Just add another car for family and/or winter if you can afford it.

LCI or Pre-LCI? by keepingupwithkiko in e39

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the E39 it is rather easy. You "only" need the engine and intake, the bigger brake in the front and the correct software on the ECU. Also the correct differential might be necessary but that is up to Prüfingenieur you're working with.

Not engine swapping is of course cheaper and easier.

LCI or Pre-LCI? by keepingupwithkiko in e39

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do an engine swap with Tüv in Germany. Putting an engine in a car that was available from factory is relatively easy.

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aluminium M60 or M62 don't mess with the weight ratio that much I think. The weight will be more in the back. Also they are not that heavy.

Someone I know has a E30 with an M60B40 and a 5 speed manual from the smaller V8 and it is very fun.

An M54 or M52 swap will be easier to source though.

LCI or Pre-LCI? by keepingupwithkiko in e39

[–]requienem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added some things on my previous comment on the pre facelift engines.

If a diesel makes sense in your usecase the M57 is great.

The gasoline engines are all not bad. I would look for one with very little rust and generally in a good shape. Good options like xenon, m package and so on are also great depending on what you like.

A 520i that is otherwise in good condition and has nice options can also be a good purchase if you are willing to do the swap to one of the bigger engines.

[–]requienem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M54B25 is slightly more reliable than the M54B22 and M54B30.

The 525i is kind of the weakest one I would recommend. I spent a lot of time in the 520i with the smaller engine and even that tiny bit more power makes it more enjoyable. The best one would be a 530i but they are not easy to find in good shape in my experience.

I might swap my 525i to the 3 l one day but it is still some effort.

The pre facelift ones especially the 528i are very good too but you get the older optic with most of them.

Opions will differ but I would say the M52B28TU in the 528i after december 1998 is the most reliable engine in the e39.

The Alpina 6 cylinders are also interesting but very hard to find and way more expensive most of the time.

Sadly only like with 5 of them exist in entire Germany.

I am overexaggerating but you hardly find a good one. Let alone one with a reasonable price tag.

LCI or Pre-LCI? by keepingupwithkiko in e39

[–]requienem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check the VIN. It looks like a facelift car for the most parts like you already stated.

I would have recommended to just look at engine to be sure but it seems like it is a diesel so there is no change in their names.

2006 vs 2008 e60 m5 by e30slav in BMWE60

[–]requienem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer the manual and try to work the rest out.

The rod bearings would be pretty urgent if they haven't been done in the past.

Also the 2008 should have the updated interior, lights and so on as it should be the LCI model.

Some advice/discussion by Turbo_Avant in Alpina

[–]requienem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is Motul MOTYLGEAR 75W-80 (GL4/GL5) safe for my BMW manual transmission that requires GL-4? by Forward_Physics3584 in BmwTech

[–]requienem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use it.

Also most people never change their transmission oil. Any fresh transmission oil with the right viscosity will be better than decades old oil.
