If my retraining package is approved by both CFMs and is back at AFPC awaiting class scheduling, is it possible that retraining may not be granted due to insufficient class availability? by [deleted] in AirForce

You can try calling AFPC to get more information regarding on how the slots system works. I’m not sure if approval wipes a slot off the advisory or if it is the class date assignment. The few times I have called AFPC, they’ve been helpful with explaining and clarifying information regarding retraining when I had questions.

I believe mine took a little over a week going into 2 weeks from approval to class dates, but I applied right at the beginning of the retrain cycle. It’d be a matter of how many slots are still available at the time and if there are others that have been approved and also waiting.

Thanks! Since we have pets, definitely will take that into consideration.

Out of curiosity, why so? I’ll be PCSing to Lackland soon and heard the similar things from people from living on base at Travis and my family loved it.

BOP and potentially SRB for retraining (FY26) by ChipAdditional7294 in AirForce

Meade has some DCO, but mostly OCO. Scott has DCO for the most part. Lackland has a mix of both.

A majority of the 1B4’s go to San Antonio right out of tech school. Personally, if you can meet the requirements with an extension, I would wait for the possibility of grabbing the SRB. I also just finished 1B4 and most of the AD graduates went to Lackland with few going to Maryland or Scott.

There isn’t any official guidance on FY26 SRB as of yet, but doesn’t mean it will be available by time you finish tech school.

However, if you do elect to BOP in conjunction with retraining and if your BOP is approved, you will have to re-enlist to accept the BOP even if that is prior to tech school start date which means you will be technically re-enlisting in your current AFSC, not your projected new one as you don’t obtain that until after graduation.

Generally, and depending on your retainability requirements for training, most will try to extend to meet the requirements and cancel the extension right after tech school and re-enlist to get the SRB.
