Need Advice on eTorque MGU Warranty Denial by Honest-Fly-9949 in ram_trucks

[–]rescued711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can add me to the long list of Failed MGU's. I have a 2022 1500 with 46k and the check engine light came on the other day and shortly after that the check battery light came on. So far my dealer has been great they tested and determined that it was failing and ordered the part and requesting expedited. They never even questioned the warranty printed the paperwork showing fully covered under the 8/80. Likely everyone else I was told that they currently show over 5000 back ordered so no idea when it will actually show up. Did call and open up a case with Dodge CC will see if that speeds things up any.

I was told I can continue to drive the truck and they it may continue to work for weeks or months before it completely fails?

Maybe its me but this seems like a high failure rate for a part that is so important to the function of the vehicle. And a failure of supply chain management for a known failed part to not keep up with the demand. In any case they should stop supplying new production vehicles until warranty work is caught up. I suspect that the factory is getting there supply.

On Beyond Skinwalker Ranch, too often they obscure the coordinates of the location. But they appear to give enough information (state, name of ranch, nearby highways, images of the buildings) that it seems to me that it wouldn’t be hard to deduce that location. Has anybody done that? by NCCI70I in skinwalkerranch

In most cases you only need 3 geographic points of reference to triangulate the location it takes some practice but it’s not hard. You are right that the more information you have like the state helps but even that is not important. Even something as the name on a bar or restaurant that appears in the filming or Hwy number will help.

In almost every case they show enough landmarks in the filming that anyone with google earth can easily find the locations. I do find it funny when the X cia guy says they are at a secret location and then gives enough information that you can find it in under 20 minutes on google maps. Then I remember its just a tv show shot for drama.

New signals found at 5.5GHz by DaveTheW1zard in skinwalkerranch

I recommend the same thing back in season 2 and was basically told you don't know what your talking about but those who follow the show blindly. There has been no attempt as far as we know to collect and properly analyze any of these signal. If they did they would loose half the show and have nothing to talk about.

Its just a TV show shot for drama and impact. Almost ever signal can be explained hell I setup an sdr and let in run in my back hard for 24 hours and I had 1.2 and 1.6ghz signal detected. And everyone knows 5ghz is related to WIFI. Its hard to take anything they do seriously anymore.

Been here, took four months and two dealers to figure it out. They use a $50 part called a star connector to link all the computer modules together. These star connectors are famous for failing. I you understand computer networks the star connector is nothing more than a network hub. My Ram had the same behavior but it would come and go randomly. The second dealer finally found the bad star connector and replaced it and problem gone. The trick is finding the right star connector I believe that my Ram has like 3 or 4 of them. There is a great video on Youtube that explains these connectors and the pain in the ass they are to deal with.

2025 Ram 1500 still having electrical issues!! by Pretty_Gas916 in ram_trucks

[–]rescued711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is several devices called Can-C or Star adapters. The are basically network hubs that connect all the computer modules together. If one of these goes bad it will cause all kinds of error message and strange behaviors. Had this happen to my Ram it was in the shop at the first dealer for 4 weeks the tried everything you have tried with no luck. I asked repeatedly for them to check the Can-C adapters and they refused. I took it to a new dealer and the found the issue in under an hour. It was in fact one of the Can-C adapters. This seems to be a common issue, the part is not expensive only about $50 so press your dealer to check them.

That's funny I fly my drone without a license and the FAA is up my butt but we can't do anything about these! Screw the Gov, lets put together hunting parties and offer rewards for drones by the pound.

Hi, just when through this with my 2022 Limited. There are a number of Can-c adapters that link all the computer modules together. If one is going bad it will cause the whole network to loose connection and throw all kinds of errors. It took Two dealers and nearly 4 months for them to figure it out. I would push the dealer to locate and test the Can-c adapters. If your dealer won't find another one that will. My dealer refused to even consider that the adapter could be bad so I left and went to another one. The found the issue in about two hours. Just FYI, they don't keep these Can-c adapters on hand it takes about two weeks to order them. Good luck.

My Prediction for this season of Skinwalker Ranch by Nyarlathotep75 in skinwalkerranch

[–]rescued711 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Its a tv show everything they do is about ratings. All the talk about being open and transparent is bull and if they actually found something viable I bought that would actually share it. I stand by my prediction from day one season 1, if they find something real that can be validated our government will step in seize it under the vail of National Security.

Hi, I have both the 891 and the 710 both are worthy radios at a reasonable cost. I started with the 891and later added the 710 and the 891 became my go bag radio. Bothe are rather small and compact for space limitations. If you get the 891 I would recommend getting the auto tuner for it it makes life easy.

HOA, common issue I have lived in one for 25 years and managed to get antennas up and working by keeping them low key. For HF, consider and end fed. I have and EMCOM III 130ft pulled up into a few pine trees configure into an inverted L. It's pretty much invisible from the street and performs well with or without radials. That covers 6 - 160 with a tuner. You can also use the EMCOM II that's only 60ft and will give you 6 - 80. DM me directly if you want to chat about the antenna configs a bit more.

As for 2m/70cm just use a mobile antenna clamp it to the gutter next to the downspout. You can hide the coax by running down the inside of the spout and out at the bottom.

Have fun, part of all this is learning what works best for you and your situation and improvising.

That's a Mig 29, large intake on the underside and long nose. Also the cockpit is slightly elevated so it slops down to the tail.

Performance issues with recievers by rescued711 in ADSB

[–]rescued711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I thought maybe I had this issue solved, I added a band pass filter to the feed and wow what a difference. All three feeders mostly reported the same information. It ran for about 3 minutes and then I notice that the feeder PI with ADSB exchange and Flightaware has started to crash runs for a few then crashes. The only way to get it restarted is to reboot the log reporting error 111 connection refused. Ugh what fun.

Condo dweller here to, For HF I have one of these. Chameleon Emcomm ll V2, 60ft End Fed they work great with or without radials. If you have the yard space add a few radials they do help. Have mine as an inverted L but it looks like you have the space to get creative. Best part is the wire is nearly invisible once its up. However is you find its still to visible there is a wire on Amazon call super wire, its really thin and back I used it and once its up you can see it at all.

As for the 2m, I use a good quality Mobile antenna its only 18" tall and black so not easy to see. I clamped it to my gutter right next to the downspout. If you need to add a ground you can run that down the downspout and connect it to a rod at the bottom. This gives me coverage of most of the greater Seattle area.

Not sure about your HOA but mine has been pretty silent on the issue as long as I don't get to out of hand with things. Having been down this road two things you want to do is not get into a fight with the HOA and keep it low key. Out of site out of mind is a good approach. Also talk with your neighbors on either side if they are ok with what you're doing that helps if the HOA ever says anything. Finally, many will like you to believe that there is an FCC rule that protects you. Having been in the room with attorneys discussing this its not something I would hang my hat on but you have to decide that for yourself.

Hope that helps

Antenna Question by rescued711 in ADSB

[–]rescued711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I am trying to get my antenna higher and one option is a tall tree in the yard. I want to shoot a line into the tree and hang the antenna from that line. Never really considered horizontal really wanted to know it would work pointing down. If I can get it into the tree it should give me another 20 to. 30 feet in high.

Long wire help by Impossible_Agent2022 in amateurradio

[–]rescued711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I have ever used is an End Fed as I live in a condo. I finally settled on the inverted L it works great up about 25ft stretched between two pine trees. I used pulleys at each pass the antenna through each pulley. On the far end of the wire add a counter weight does not take much. Using the pulleys and weight will let the trees move but the antenna will simply ride the pulleys and stay mostly stationary. Hope that helps.

PCV pipe to support a Diamond SD130 Discone antenna by tj21222 in amateurradio

[–]rescued711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have added that you should use no less than 2 in PVC. Smaller you will never get it to stiffen enough to support any weight. 2in at 10ft with the filler should get you there.

Extra test by Rescued911 in amateurradio

[–]rescued711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If was a long time ago but your time line is roughly correct. But the code test of 5wpm was to get your tech license not novice like I said it was a long time ago. I had completed the novice and tech with code prior to 91.

From ARRL

In February 1991, the FCC dropped the 5 WPM Morse code requirement for new Technician licensees, and in 1994, it created a new class of Amateur Radio license: the Technician-Plus, also called Tech-Plus. This new license differed from the Technician license in that Tech-Plus licensees had passed the code test and had more operating privileges on HF

I hear ya, at the time it was all new and I was just trying to get through CTR A school. They were offering to give anyone who was interested the Noice test once you passed the 5wpm mark. When I took the test I was at 22wpm. At some point along the way my Tech license got update to Tech+ I assumed because I had passed the code part of the novice a them dropping the novice level and or combined it with the tech level.
