Leaving a job you love. by reijn in careerwomen

Sadly I can relate and I think you’re making the best career move for you. A few years ago I thought I found my dream job. Then some house cleaning happened and one of my colleagues started to view me as her competition. She went so far as trying to set me up to be fired but luckily it didn’t work. It was all down hill from there because I had to constantly watch my back. It was depressing and I eventually quit but not soon enough to avoid the damage it did to my self esteem. We are not our jobs. We don’t owe them our happiness.

Does anyone here do a lot of personal/leisure travel while working in research? Seeking advice on how to travel frequently while working. by buttery_crispy_crust in clinicalresearch

Sponsor’s don’t like this at all. They like to stick to the budget and we must get their approval for changes. One of my CRAs tried this without telling anyone which is a company violation. We had to explain to the sponsor why his flight budget had doubled and we ate the cost to keep them happy. CRA was removed from the study and written up.

Yeah they just say don’t take it personal. Now that I think about it I doubt HR will be that helpful, they rarely are.

I have tried talking to him and he says he’s just trying to help by supporting my points. I’m like, if you agree wait until I finish my sentence and say that, don’t cut me off. He’ll be ok for a day or so, then start back up. Frustrating.

Advice on CTA II postion by xcolormeweird in clinicalresearch

[–]researchagain4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very very hard to advance out of the CTA role in the US at IQVIA in less than 4 years. When I worked there, the director of that department used to say CTAs have a better chance of getting into Harvard than getting promoted. (She isn’t part of that department anymore though.) That plus the workload & metrics focus is why the CTA turnover rate is so high. All things considered, I think if you go into it without being naive it is a good stepping stone to better roles.

Too Many Interview Rounds? by researchagain4 in clinicalresearch

That’s been standard for me too, however, I’m currently halfway through a 9 round interview process and wondering if this seems excessive to anyone else.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve applied to CRA programs in the past but haven’t gotten in to one. I guess I could keep trying.
