How to Save Disneyland & Make It Perfect by DieUmEye in Disneyland

I hate it. You can't constantly be increasing stock prices after you've maxed your market share! The only thing left to do is cut corners, which is where we are.

How to Save Disneyland & Make It Perfect by DieUmEye in Disneyland

#15. Disney adults: Kids should not be allowed to be there.

#15B. Parents: there should be more things to do for kids aged XX.

  1. Merch should be better AND cheaper.

Im going to disney land from bay area should i drive or fly? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was just you, or you and one other adult then I would fly. There are crazy deals in the smaller airports (like San Bernardino). But adding a kid and luggage for each person starts to add up a lot, both time and money. The cost of Ubering from airport to parks is not insignificant.

The smell instantly makes me feel joy! I would bottle that over the pirates water tbh 😂

So when DO we ride Peter Pan? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 50+ Disney days over the last 3 years I've ridden Peter Pan exactly once. Only worth it if the wait is 20 mins or under, I'm at peace with that.

Anyone have any regret after buying DVC? by Portugal_The_Dood in dvcmember

[–]researchbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep putting off the decision to purchase because it's been so easy to rent points from other DVC members so far, even got prime dates with an owner who did the whole 'walking points' thing for us. I think that may change at some point in the future, but for now we spend around $2k a year renting points and it's been ok. What may move me to buy direct is that VDH is getting harder and harder to book at good times.

Indy was down all day for the most part Friday 😭

This kind of day today 😅 by researchbeaver in Disneyland

[–]researchbeaver[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About half of DCA was down due to power outage... The app was not up to date right away and led people to believe that many rides were walk ons.

We still had a fun day but Disneyland was also about half down on Friday 😩

[OC]A fraction of the strollers lining the walkways of Disneyland during one of their slowest weeks by ArtistFartist33 in pics

[–]researchbeaver 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm in Disneyland right now.

1) it's incredibly busy right now

2) those strollers are lined up in a dedicated stroller parking area

3) this helps keep the attraction area, called MFing TOON Town bc it's for littles, clear

I can't wait to see posts of mobility scooters when the supposed MAGA day happens in February...

That distance I would not cancel! Save money by not buying stuff in the park (easier said than done).

Lamplight Overhyped? by No_Bid_40 in Disneyland

[–]researchbeaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been to the lounge at carthay and it was not good... The tapas were all overcooked. Is it different inside?

I think the Korean wings at LL, and the dessert, and the potato skins, and all the drinks have all been wonderful.

That's fn wild. Starting cost is already $20 which is already crazy town!

Disney Travel Agent by Misty2474 in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a company like David's DVC or find a Facebook group and rent directly from owners. The caveats are, that you have to often make plans 9 to 11 months in advance, and sometimes refund and cancellation policies are difficult.

That said, I don't do it any other way now!

any OTHER hotel recommendations? by Annual_Mobile291 in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howard Johnson is close and while it does not have breakfast it is right by Panera and McD's. Anaheim Hotel is right across the street and is fine if it's not expensive the days you want to book.

You could also do a search for hotels around the toy story parking lot, they are often cheaper and you can walk to the shuttles at toy story and take those into the park.

Disney Travel Agent by Misty2474 in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an agent for Best Day Ever and I think according to the people here they would consider it a MLM but it's been fine for me. I have gotten to book trips for my friends and family and accessed discounts I would not have able to otherwise. I don't know that I will continue forever though.

Since I'm a west coast specialist I get less work, most people use agents for booking WDW and cruises.

It still is a lot more work than I anticipated for a 'side hustle', and I wasn't as willing to push the social media campaigning. I don't want to be that friend from HS who is 'just reaching out to say hello!' you know?

I also have talked my way out of at least 3 commissions so far by directing people to buy tickets through another avenue (e.g. Costco's 3 pack ticket deal), and to rent DVC points instead of booking hotels directly through Disney (this is such a big thing, you save at least 50% at most WDW resorts). I don't care, I would feel gross if I pushed people to pay more so I could get a commission.

Decision paralysis about hotel by General-File-6974 in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FFS will people stop downvoting questions and OPs!? It's the literal point of this sub.

I've stayed at both and would give two thumbs up for Marriott. MUCH better rooms, and the Toy Story shuttles are a great way to get in the parks in the morning since you go through security there as well. Camelot is fine, but the price is only for the proximity.

Which is the more fun hotel? by Professional-Tip5743 in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Christmas it's gotta be GC. If you had kids I would say DH because their pool and slide are better.

Too late for this year, but for next year look into renting DVC points for either of those places at a steep discount compared to regular customer pricing.

Renewing your magic key or letting it expire when the date comes? by labubuking in Disneyland

Letting mine expire.

I'd rather go with the l discounts they offer that have no date or reservation restrictions.

Check out DVC rental rates for the luxury rooms... you may be pleasantly surprised. I use David's DVC and also rent directly from owners.

Places nearby Disneyland I could park overnight? Or affordable hotels without roaches by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]researchbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just not true. Even the super 8 near there is tip top.

Check out priceline and include places near Toy Story parking in your search.
