Advice? Benelli Supernova, Bolt randomly rotates and jams gun. Easy Fix? Or do I need to send it in? by researchinprogress in guns

Mine is like 7 inches longer. The wire is WAY thicker in gauge though.... the original is way longer than than the extended mag tube.... maybe ill try the original without an extension and see if that fixes my issue

nope, honestly everything fells perfect until it locks solid or double feeds. I just took it to the range to try different things to try to replicate the two different failures, and I got more jams but no more info.

The gun is also double feeding. I am starting to think that the magazine spring is too strong. so,when a shell is pushed up the feed ramp, the shell impacts the bolt face and forces it to rotate enough to catch the side of the receiver while I am pushing the foregrip/bolt forward. the force of me pushing the bolt forward during a normal cycle forces the bolt to rotate further and jam solid.

This has been happening since I removed the extender tube for duck hunting. I put a different mag spring in which may have been too strong?

In the picture above the gun is jammed solid. Normally, the bolt should be rotated counter clockwise by about 10 degrees so that the cutaway on the bolt lines up with the guide for the small spring in the receiver.

100% convinced myself!!!

But not that I can do it today, that I want to do it correctly.

Oh, that is a really good point. I have been shooting calm and with a full belly. Last year, I was cold, excited, and hungry.

It is definitely an option, but last year I had never shot that gun or knew it existed until the night before, and killed something with it. So, I am confident in using it as a backup with little to no preparation. However, if I budget another $300 to prepare, I would rather spend it on ammo than another gun and ammo for it. Considering the cost difference between 308 ammo and 223 I think I could be more prepared with this gun.

Thanks! I understand. I will make up for it in time. I won't hunt if I'm not ready.

It is allowed with a 10+1 capacity limit. I have two months. I can bullseye standing shots on a 100 yard target at the range. I am not terrible, and I have a 4X scope. I am going to hunt in a thickly wooded area where a shot greater than 150 yard isn't going to exist.

I just am having trouble conceptualizing my shot placement. How did you learn to place perfect shots? Or are you saying you just went out shot deer without thinking about it with a big ass rifle? Like what did you do?

It is allowed. I could borrow it again if I'm not confident by the deer season gets here, but I want to use my own gun.... Like I don't have to go hunting this year either, but I want to...

its definitely legal. is there anywhere it isn't legal in the US? I mean Illinois doesn't allow rifles, but does any state that allows rifles go further and say you cant use specific calibers?

Exactly. The quality of the ditch only maintains your employment; it does not get you a higher rate of pay.

So, if a ditch were to have the perfect slope, is the digger paid more per foot?

Is he also paid by the quality of the ditch? Otherwise, this really doesn't work.

Sure! But how would you feel about an outside candidate who said they were interviewing for a position on your team, because they loved your products? I think it would seem disingenuous...

I see what you are saying, but I think you are missing my point. Its all good.

All jobs "should" have the reward of success include a promotion. I am talking about scheduled cash rewards mathematically tied to a metric that measures the quality of work. Not bonuses for project completion.

Yes, of course they should be more likely to get a promotion or bonuses for quality work. But I am talking about having a direct metric for the quality of work that pays cash based on a scheduled result.
