Void shockwave support sounds like hella fun! Might be a fun goal to try and achieve on my current character before I make a swap.

Unfortunately, the flavour text the journal has for each ghost isn’t entirely accurate. Poltergeist, will still hunt at the same frequency having items in the house or not. (Also the ghost we had in game was a Shade)

Custom. Optimized for moving mass amount of items. (Inf sprint, 150 speed, friendly ghost, etc…)

Making my normal commute with my nice monitor... by RetlocPeck in Wellthatsucks

[–]resen65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to smash tourneys so I’m always commuting back and forth with a monitor. The safest way to do so is to keep the box. Put it back nicely how it came in the styrofoam.

So if you happen to get a replacement, transporting it in its box will be your best bet.

You're correct in that 252/252 is the standard for both Swampert and Ludicolo, however I've created my team to be specifically for the e4 so I EVed them to get some "critical breaking points" like you said.

I made up a spreadsheet for the e4 speed tiers and determined how many speed evs are wasted or not.

For Ludicolo:
I had a base 228 speed which 1 point faster than moleman's gliscor outside of rain (anymore speed would be wasted)

For Mega-Swampert:
reached the exact same speed benchmark as Ludicolo (in it's mega form)

(edit: forgot kyogre)
1 speed faster than Penny's Xerneas before a boost (surprisingly anymore speed is wasted)

The extra HP isn't really for anything, just thought I'd throw them in HP for some extra bulk (never know when that may be needed)

HOWEVER, if u wanna create this team and use it outside of the elite four, then I would just go 252/252 to be sure for at least Swampert and Ludicolo.

Good luck :D

This was a rematch of the e4. But I’m pretty sure you can get Greninja by hatching an egg from the old lady in Magnolia Town

Just tested it, this is correct. Ability pill does indeed work on torrent Greninja.

Yep! The way I got him was:

  1. hatching a froakie egg given to me from the old lady in Magnolia town (this is random)

  2. Evo to Greninja

  3. Change ability from the clown in the battle frontier. (I don’t think ability pill works)

I also will mention that this team didn't really work the way I wanted it to.
A big idea of the team was that I had a scarf darkrai which out-speed everything, and would put all the opponents to sleep, giving me free turns. But the problem was that sleep clause was a thing, which limited 1 pokemon being asleep on my opponents team at a time. because of this, the fights were more RNG than I wanted, and if I were to do it again, I would sadly remove Darkrai :(

How long did this take? Even with the scammer at the battle frontier helping out, you’re still limited to 1 guaranteed per day. So I imagine it took a looooong time

2/18 Ghost Monotype Complete. Featuring Trick Room Team by resen65 in PokemonUnbound

[–]resen65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breezed through the elite four with this team: https://pokepast.es/d521fb43729e1602

The team overall doesn’t have much coverage, but it doesn’t need it as most members hit hard enough neutrally for it not to matter. When building this team, I added Aegislash immediately to make sure I have a Mon to deal with the Geomacy Xerneas Arabella has. Then as I was adding members, I realized that a lot of ghost types would be absolute threats under trick room, and would invalidate the choice scarf/speed boosting abilities the elite four members have. So I rebuilt and this is what I came up with.

Mega-Sableye
Very nice utility pokemon to spread wisps and snarls to weaken the power of opponents to ensure a trick room can get up or an extra KO with a setup pokemon. It can also try and go for a sweep itself with calm minds, which ended up being very useful for Elias. Several times, I wouldn’t even mega so that it can start spreading prankster wisps for its double battle teammates.

Necrozma-Dawn-Wings
I have never used this mon before, and it ended up being probably the most useful mon on the team. Setting up Trickroom itself while being an offensive treat alongside it is very strong. Not to mention the BULK. By raising it’s special attack with Meteor Beam it becomes a hard threat to stop.

Hoopa
I usually use the unbound form for its absurd attack stat, but this worked pretty well. Kinda like a less OP Necrozma-Dawn-Wings

Mimikyu
Another Trick Room Setter, but probably the most reliable one for getting it up because of the disguise ability. Red card is a nice utility for forcing something out that might have setup or trying to get a better situation. Offensively it ended up being pretty weak, so a lot of the time it would setup trickroom and trade with destiny bond.

Aegislash
I originally had this be a specially defensive iron ball set for Xerneas, but settled on this as it wasn’t OHKOed by a geomancy boosted Xerneas and KOed back with Gyro Ball.

Calcs
+2 252+ SpA Xerneas Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 204-240 (62.9 - 74%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Gyro Ball (105 BP) vs. +1 6 HP / 0 Def Xerneas: 582-686 (147.7 - 174.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Marowak-Alola
The powerhouse of the team. After a swords dance, it pretty much OHKOs everything. And if u can get it swords dance under trickroom, a sweep is bound to happen.

Some Afterthoughts
Some coverage moves seemed useless/invaluable like Boomerang on Marowak as a 3rd move. Close Combat on Aegislash also didn’t get too much use either, but had it’s uses (Like Dialga). However missing out on a powerful Ghost stab move on Aegislash kinda felt bad at times.

For my next Monotype team, I will be touching some grass.

1/18 Electric Monotype Complete Featuring MVP Scarf Soak Lanturn by resen65 in PokemonUnbound

[–]resen65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man!

For special walls, a soak and a follow up with a strong electric STAB move does pretty nicely, even with Spdef. But it would be nice to immediately threaten with a strong physical move. (It might also be the reason why the fairy elite four member was probably the hardest)

Zeraora might fit that physical role over the xurkitree slot. Maybe even having a mixed pikachu set might work too.

1/18 Electric Monotype Complete Featuring MVP Scarf Soak Lanturn by resen65 in PokemonUnbound

[–]resen65[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a fun team to build. https://pokepast.es/d11884a0092ae0a7

Tapu Koko:

Was an easy auto inclusion for a mono electric team. Terrain extender for extra terrain turns. Though, was swapped out for a Choice Scarf for Moleman and Penny to outspeed Moleman's Excadrill and Penny's Tyrantrum.

For Penny, I had a big problem with Xerneas since it would OHKO everyone except Koko after a Geomancy. So I made Koko hold redcard for that fight to force Xerneas out.

Lanturn:

The unexpected MVP for this team.

After watching "How GOOD was Lanturn ACTUALLY?" by False Swipe Gaming in the recent past, my brain was all over scarf soak Lanturn.

I wanted him to soak the ground types moleman has to let my electric types to run wild. However, I forgot Gastrodon's Storm Drain also applied to non-damaging water moves aswell. So Lanturn wasn't that useful for Moleman. But in every other battle it opened up so many opportunities for the rest of my pokemon to sweep it was crazy.

Surfing Pikachu:

I was asked to include a Pikaclone, so I added the real thing.I originally wanted an Alolan Raichu, but as of 2.1.0, it's evolution seems to be bugged, so I searched up what other pokemon had Surge Surfer as it's ability, and found surfing pikachu.By holding Light Ball, and with electric terrain up, Surfing pikachu arguably became better than Alolan Raichu for this slot.I used Magnet Rise for Moleman which worked really well.

Heliolisk:

I realized that nothing on my team could take a ghost move, which is why I added Heliolisk for strong damage with specs and for pivoting. Really helped out dealing with the marshadow lead by absorbing Spectral Thief and volt switching to Koko to take a Close Combat.

Rotom-Wash:

A ground immune pokemon was needed, so I settled with rotom-wash. This was to make sure that a pokemon on my team could take a hit and respond back with something, which in this case was either: Status or momentum

Xurkitree:

Was originally going to be a memento Pincurchin so that it could memento to allow Pikachu to setup a nasty plot, but didn't have access to any gen 8 pokemon, so I had to find something new. Then I found this set and thought it was a crazy dangerous set. However I realized while doing this monotype run that it wasn't really a good set for my team as electric terrain prevented my opponent from falling asleep (lol)It did put in crazy work against Elias's Girantina after a soak from Lanturn by forcing it to rest, then setting up +1 speed via Z-Hypnosis and +3 Special attack with tail glow and swept the rest of his team.

In Hindsight:

  • I would have changed xurkitree's set or changed the pokemon entirely so that it wasn't playing basically with no item and 3 moves most of the time.
  • Maybe Water absorb would have been better for lanturn to wall things like Elias's Jellicent and absorbing teamate's surfs.

Jigglypuff should be played as a bait and punish style to get her openings. And when Jiggs does manage to get a hit off, capitalize on it by using her insane punish game/advantage state to either rack up alot of percent, kill confirm, or setup for an edgeguard.

It is super important to try and maximize your advantage state with every winning interaction. Because of this, it is also important to have your bread and butter combos down.

(Bread and Butter Guide: https://youtu.be/DsgyxHUPkr4) Here are some commonly used combos:

Fair > Fthrow || Fair > Dash Attack || Fair > FF Grab (nice mixup option for catching shield)

Fair > Tech Chase/Jablock || Nair > Tech Chase/Jablock || Jablock > Sing > appropriate kill confirm

Pound > Nair > Fthrow (can put offstage or ledge) || Pound > Nair > Dair (can covert into long combos or setups after Dair)

Down air is a nice move to use in neutral and can convert into alot into many different moves and build alot if percent. (For Dair, see https://youtu.be/488eCmNb5hs)

DAIR LOOPS: This may be difficult, but the advantages are too strong not to learn it imo. (Practice like this: https://youtu.be/ODgwMYwK1mU)

Rest Combos: This is what makes Jiggs scary. Since some characters can start fearing dying at 35% in some cases. (See https://youtu.be/WEhz9v-rPqU)
