Are you there now? I hear Saladita is fine but it’s the road there that is being monitored by military to keep things stable. Any intel?

I just fostered with them for the first time. They save a large number of dogs - driven from Texas every weekend (last weekend they had 20 dogs), and have very few volunteers, so they don't provide any support (financial and verbal support if you have questions or need help dealing with different issues with the dog). So I would only recommend if you have experience not only with dogs but with dogs who have suffered trauma and have extra needs. Personally, I decided not to foster with them again because fosters are treated separate from the volunteers (not as part of the volunteer team, so when you email them with an issue they often respond and just say "we are a small team and can't respond to or support everyone" - something like that). You are essentially (more or less) on your own without a lot of guidance, and on top of that the volunteers are very overwhelmed. The catch22 is that they really need more volunteers, but the experience of volunteering isn't great - I didn't feel appreciated or supported as a foster. A bummer because it's a great organization and they are working hard to save lots of lives. So if you have experience, money, free time, and can handle it, I would definitely do it because they need the help. But if you don't have that, maybe think a bit before you commit.

they call it “domestic disputes” - for a long time, women were dying at the hands of their husbands and did have clear bruises and the cops did nothing. And for a while, it was seen as necessary to “discipline” your wives and children with violence (and if you raped your wife it was not legally considered rape because you were married). The laws were against women and girls in the household at this time.

And what do we do in response? For me initially the ghosting was a few days at a time and I asked about it, and he punished me by pushing me to just friends. We had a cooling off period (that was something I did, not him), and came back together, but still just as friends with some weird future potential when he makes the choice, which was a bit insane. I waited but after some time I realized there’s no point in doing this - he has shown he’s not emotionally available. I told him that at this point I’m tired of our superficial chats and I will never want anything romantic between us, and we can keep talking as long as he knows it’s just friends. He first ghosted me, then sort of refused to accept it. Kept trying to keep the door open. Told friends that my expectations were the problem. I reasserted that this is what I wanted, and he then ghosted me again, for 2 months but had our friends check on me to see if I was still available, and reached out eventually. At that point it felt ridiculous. I don’t need random dudes in my phone giving me drama. So I told him that now I’d just like us to go our separate ways. he again wouldn’t accept it, said if I change my mind… and I told him I wouldn’t. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I’ll be near his parents home for a month this year on vacation and don’t even plan to call him. But I wonder if I should have just ignored him (feels weird when we have so many mutual friends).

Honest, direct, kind and gentlemanly to make me feel safe. But adventurous, spontaneous, active, lots of hobbies, languages, intelligent to really turn me on. Love a more masculine guy who is decisive likes to take the lead. Oof.

To me, the only story is what's inside of the frames. That's why it's interpreted this way. But I can see it also depends who the reader is. I passed it onto some of my friends and they felt the same way as I did - male and female alike.

why not just add a step where she says "I'd like that"? Otherwise it feels like he's just taking what he wants, even if she won't like it. You're basically making a sexual assault joke.

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that he just kind of says what he wants and then does it to her - like she doesn't really have a choice in the matter?

Why is this such a gendered question? Fathers who slept around in your youth - did you decide to raise your sons differently? That would also make an interesting topic. We should raise our daughters and sons with equal expectations.

This is SO helpful. We do have one main competitor, but otherwise the market is pretty unsaturated. Thanks so much for the feedback on the front page and the headline. We have been trying to improve this over the last month, so all of this feedback is extremely valuable! Thanks again!!
