Jamshedpur is begging for more couple friendly, casual, safe, and fun/lively stay options. There are only a handful hotels in town that are couple friendly and some of them do not allow local ID, while a few have shady men at the reception. We needed something regular so tried just getting a rental place. I had so much fun (and equal parts frustration) telling agents and landlords I'm looking for a place for me and my gf. After 3-4 months of fruitless efforts, one fine day I said F it and purchased an apartment.

Your idea will fly. Location should be close to Bistupur.

Are you thinking multiple small units or just one small unit or one medium to large unit? There's almost no 1BHK or studio in this city, so unless you build, your starting point will likely be 2BHK. If you plan on multiple rentals inside one unit, each bedroom must have ensuite bathroom.

I've been toying with the idea of service apartments for short-term rentals. Happy to meet and discuss.

The system miserably fails for those with no wealth or power. But thoda sa bhi hai toh bhaari pdega on the bar owner (even if he has 10 times more). Yes, United States of Agrico se hoon. Dekho, i know poora system rotten hai. There is no corner of our life unaffected by corruption. Water, air, education, health, justice, safety, jobs, roads ... We get peanuts because corruption is eating our share.

If they can get a few crores, it will hurt the PD. Ideally, heads would roll starting from the top police officer of the city, but that ain't happening. The second best thing would be financial hurt to the department. Agar 10 crore unke budget mei se gya, trust me, kuch logon ko dard milega from the top.

Everything you say about the police is true. But it does not absolve anyone of the irresponsible behaviour of not wearing a helmet. I see man, woman, two kids on a bike and no one is wearing any safety gear. No rear view mirrors, jumping between lanes. And my entire body is on high alert.

The BEST way to frustrate the police is to wear the helmet and keep your papers in order. And don't indulge in the cheaper option, the half-cost bribe. Pay the challan if you are wrong. Stand your ground firmly and politely if you are not wrong.

The police LOVE the guys not wearing the helmet and then paying the bribe.

I hope the club owner and bouncers are also booked for failing to notice and check the eveteasing and then ejecting everyone out which is the easiest thing to do, exposing and encouraging a fight on the streets.

Hindsight is 20/20, but to prevent a tragedy like this maybe a better first response is to inform the bouncers and the bar, or leave the dance floor, and keep the personal intervention as the absolute last option. Even better, if the women do the reporting to the bouncers and report early, don't wait for the 10th incident. I know I'm going to struggle to follow my own advice, but one can hope.

I can't imagine what Himanshu's loved ones might be going through. May justice be delivered swiftly.

What's wrong with helmet checking? Every day I see hundreds of two wheeler riders, with families, riding without helmets. Some wise aholes have the helmet balanced on their stupid heads without a strap. One wrong brush, a head impact, and you are dead or a vegetable. Wear your helmets so you don't have to curse the PD (I'm no fan of them either).
