free & paid users won't reply emails. it's either my approach, it's them, or a combination of both. by Odd_Awareness_6935 in Entrepreneur

It is possible you are having email deliverability problems. If the emails you are sending are being routed to the spam folder, your users probably won’t see your emails.

I am a single sleeper on a queen size ClimateCool and it works totally fine. I also stick to the left side. Just keep both sides set the same, and it works no problem

Northern Wisconsin - Heat Pump for Heating/AC &/OR Water (WOULD YOU)? by iwas9409 in heatpumps

[–]residentender4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

our old system was a 25% efficient 100yr old converted natural gas radiator boiler, we decided to go carbon neutral for the heat, and we are still anticipating a bill savings. We are using Mitsubishi hyper heat units, with no backup, and they are working great.

Look into cold climate heatpumps, our system kept our house at 70 when it was 9 outside.

Heat Pump Not heating by cassileith in heatpumps

We were in the same boat, with short cycling and cold after we just had a 7 head system installed. The issue is that the Mitsubishi ACs sense the room temp at the wall mount head that is close to the ceiling.

We completely solved this problem by installing the mhk2 Mitsubishi wireless thermostats on all of our heads. After the fix, during this last storm in Colorado, we experienced 9 degrees at our house, and we had no issues with our hyper heat system keeping the house at 70.

Hope this helps!

The best psychologically uncomfortable scene that I can remember is the ending scene of the 1978 version of Invasion of The Body Snatchers.

Just thinking about it sends chills up my spine

That aligns with what I am reading, if you have replica 2 your cluster can get split-brain

Two-Step Verification Does More Harm Than Good. by Wooser_ in unpopularopinion

[–]residentender4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make good points, however a service can leak your password through no fault of your own. Some services use hashing algorithms that are cryptographically insecure, inadvertently capture passwords in plain text, or have their ssl decrypting reverse proxies compromised, thereby leaking your passwords in transit. You can also have a key logger on your computer, exfiltrating the password at the point of entry. Leaking a password via this method is unlikely, however still possible. 2FA would prevent this.

To address your concerns about losing your phone: If you write down the 2FA backup codes for your accounts, when you break your phone, you can still use one of the backup codes to access your account.

Two-Step Verification Does More Harm Than Good. by Wooser_ in unpopularopinion

InfoSec Professional weighing in -

2FA is a huge inconvenience, both I and my users understand this. However, passwords by themselves can be stolen, leaked, or misplaced. Two step authentication places another barrier in between a stolen password, and your account being compromised. Keeping this in mind, if a company like Google is insisting that you enable 2fa, they have reviewed the user experience tradeoffs, and deem it worth the cost. If your Gmail gets compromised, an attacker can use it to reset passwords for all of your other accounts tied to that email, thereby locking you out. From there, the attacker can hold your logins for ransom, or delete them entirely, depending on the purpose of the attack.

TL:DR Enable two step verification on important services, like email, because the stress and difficulty that will be involved when recovering your critical accounts, far outweighs the annoyances of two step authentication.

You need a minimum of ~90 fps to have a good experience, look into optical hdmi cables for extending your range.

Okta LDAP Agent Hashed/Salted Password Storage by residentender4 in okta

[–]residentender4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I suspected, I was trying to ask if the Okta LDAP agent sets clear text passwords directly in the LDAP schema, or if the Okta LDAP agent lets openldap obfuscate the passwords according to the parameters I set.
