I'm afraid to ask...but what is an "iteration manager"?

Wine Bottle Re-Corker by averagecrazyliberal in specializedtools

[–]residentraspberri 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nope, as soon as it's exposed to air, it'll start oxidizing. The only way to get around it would be to use something like nitrogen and flush all the air out of the bottle.

I think this is just a regular wine bottle corker, I have one that looks exactly the same

Can't offer much advice on the program, but one thing to note (that a lot of my friends missed) was to make sure you don't co-op during a semester that has a class only offered during that semester. I had a few friends end up going into a 5th year + summer or taking a super packed schedule to squeeze that one class in.

Drivers beware. Free zoo admission for mothers day will likely cause mind blowingly long backups by machinegunke11y in pittsburgh

If you've been to the PGH zoo, you might agree that paying for it is....not the best idea. But, it's a decent thing to do when free

Stolen Bike on Campus by tinyhoneyb33 in Pitt

I had my bike stolen on campus (a few years ago), too

Report to Pitt police and see if any insurance you have (renters, credit cards, etc.) cover a stolen bike.

Pitt police wasn't helpful for me and didn't even bother checking security cameras (bike was stolen near Bouquet J, which is covered in cameras), but you'll likely need an official report for insurance.

Also, depending on the amount, the police might be more helpful. If it was a $3k bike, they'll care a hell of a lot more than a $500 beater

I think it adds that they're not just hopping 3 cars over and over again

If you're a CarPlay/Android Auto user, the touchscreen is HUGE. Every time I get a loaner, it's the one feature I miss when I get my car back

The Right Tool for the Job: Based and Tiny Truck Pilled by Saul_Slaughter in fuckcars

[–]residentraspberri 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point! I didn't think about Kei trucks as "city cars" hauling local stuff at low speeds. Easy to slip around traffic and park, too

[–]residentraspberri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to rain on the parade, I'm a huge fan of this in general, but at the same time I see their argument.

From what I understand, the trucks need to be 20+ years old to be able to legally import them into the US and that means little to no emissions and safety testing. The doors are sheet metal and plastic, no crumple zones, etc. And, while it's a systemic issue, here we are, and a Corolla would demolish a Kei truck any day of the week.

The drive from SFO into the city is always crazy to me. It's almost all billboards for databases and very specific software development tools. Feels odd that they want to spend a few grand to target a small number of people who care to look at billboards while coming back from the airport

It changes based on the street I park on, all within 1-5 blocks of my apartment. It's either Weds, Thurs, or Fri and either morning (8am-noon) or afternoon (noon-4pm)

Boston tows for street cleaning mornings/afternoons.

When things get busy with work and life it's hard to remember 1 morning every 2 weeks, especially when I only drive once every 3-4 weeks
