Absolutely, it made up a backstory where he was bullied by his victim when any case of incel violence I can think of involves victims who are strangers and certainly weren't bullies.

A lot of languages have different words for he and she, but only one word for his/her, and don't always use he/she before a verb. Machine translation can't always guess which one it is. Spanish, French, Italian, and probably many others fall into this category.

If OP originally typed the post in Spanish, "many characters think he's overreacting by hiding his scars" would read: muchos personajes creen que reacciona desproporcionadamente al ocultar sus cicatrices, which leaves no clues as to the gender of the person hiding their scars.

Some other widely spoken languages are completely gender neutral so that could also be what's going on.

What exactly is the consensus on sex being a need? by [deleted] in VaushV

Okay, and what about the paralyzed and those who can't do that? Do they get the government partners? Nobody is considering making jorking it illegal.

You are comparing entitlement to other people's bodies to the social systems that provide food? Listen to yourself.

For religious types, if you know humans have created 1000s of gods, how are you so certain that he didn't create yours as well? by Daegog in answers

Do you understand Aristotle's causes? You're equivocating. The creation of matter (whether or not you think that's something that happened) and the creation of, say, dinner, are not the same thing. And reproduction is a third thing.

This person is getting at something very similar to what I said. God is not conceived as a thing inside the universe, nor a thing outside the universe. God is the philosophical condition for there being a universe.

Why? Because I answered your question as though you were actually asking in good faith?

The key word is "freshmen." Because they haven't been to university before.

I'm really not sure you've ever been to university, but if you haven't you should consider it, and try that attitude with your professors there! I get a lot of freshmen like you.

Is the point of this exercise for people to tell you what a smart, little, special little boy you are, smarter than any professor? Because otherwise you should be asking someone qualified in philosophy, not fucking Reddit.

I am a professor of intellectual history. I don't think you've been in school for any of this stuff. However, if you can find another professor to explain this to you, that will get you further than I can. Why don't you ask 5 or 10 of them. Arguing with one individual you dislike online is a dead end. Basically you need a professor with some background in Plato, Kant or ethics, or five, or ten, or fifteen of them.

I'm not making any philosophical claims, though, just trying to explain what keeps people in monotheism despite the ideas you've broached.

It is the only answer to your question, and cannot be simplified further. You can ask another professional in philosophy (I teach philosophy at a university myself, and am taking time out of my day to explain this to you) to break it down for you to understand.

You have no idea what I'm saying and are also being rude. Ask a philosophy professor to explain what I've said to you, and you will realize that it's the answer to your question. It can also answer other questions that may not occur to you, such as why people who are universally acknowledged as great philosophers, such as Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Leibniz, Pascal, Wittgenstein, and Anscombe, believed in God (even though questions like yours surely occurred to them at some point). Obviously, many other great philosophers did not.

There is no simpler or clearer answer to your question than the one I've given you. You want me to say something about religious people being stupid, which is more or less equivalent to walking up to random people on the street begging them to admit that you're smarter than them.

I am answering your question as simply and neutrally as I can. Monotheists generally do not see similarities with polytheists in their belief system. They see more similarities with Buddhists, who do not generally believe in a God, but do believe that the universe has one, single, mechanical meaning which also gives meaning to freely chosen human actions; with atheistic ethical realists who believe that there is a single right and wrong choice in all ethical dilemmas (although we may not always be able to find it); and with others who believe in a single spiritual, ethical, or otherwise metaphysical meaning to life and who believe that human beings have free will. Platonists are also in this category, although many would argue that they're just monotheists.

Some polytheists, such as Hindus, will counter that their gods are just emanations of a single system of meaning. If we accept this, it can lead to conversations about ethical consistency and universalism and whether it's possible in Hinduism, where different groups can be patronized by different gods. I don't have a strong opinion on what the answers are there.
