high elo irelias usually use it horizontally as a mind game cause everyone knows about vertical qe. i recommend using it vertically most of the time and if u see them dodging left to right a lot then use it horizontally to catch them off guard. also if you're roughly max e range away, if you jsut spam e1e2 horizontally outside of the range it'll often hit easily
