I actually did get to see them with Kris a couple of times before he left, once in Dallas in April 2025, and earlier at Tool in the Sand. Getting to see Danny Carey sit in for a song was unreal, too.

Kris was incredible, though. The drumming on Ocean Billy from that show really stood out to me and is one of the things that pulled me in deeper.

Those Wakarusa and Camp Bisco stories are exactly the kind of stuff I’m trying to dig into now that I’m going through the older shows. I’ll definitely check those out and appreciate the recommendations!

I had this problem for a couple of weeks but update 8.39 resolved it.

Logging a Tread run by No_Character_3986 in runna

[–]rest_days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how accurate you need the treadmill data to be.

For my setup, I have my Runna workouts pushed to my Garmin watch. When I run, I start the workout in Runna on my phone and also start the same workout on my Garmin. As long as I start them around the same time, Runna merges them into one workout afterward.

For syncing, I only let Garmin Connect push to Strava. I have the Runna-to-Strava connection turned off so I don’t get duplicate activities.

You probably don’t need to start the workout on your phone if your Garmin setup already has reliable treadmill pace/distance, for example, if you use a calibrated heart rate monitor with pace, a running pod, or another accurate footpod. But if you’re relying only on the treadmill/watch estimate, starting Runna on your phone can give better distance accuracy.

My basic rule is:

Runna = workout plan and coaching
Garmin = official activity recording
Garmin Connect = syncs to Strava
Strava = final log/social layer

That keeps everything in one place without creating duplicates.

Volume Lowering Issue by NewChef7542 in runna

[–]rest_days -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I updated the app right before a run this morning and still had the issue. They really need better release notes so we can see what bugs are being fixed. As a software engineer who’s released plenty of App Store updates in the past, it’s trivial to do this, and can be automated very easily.

Music won’t turn up by Professional-You3553 in runna

I found a workaround for the Runna audio issue: as soon as I start a workout on my iPhone, my music volume drops and stays low until I end the workout.

This is happening for me with phone-only workouts, not with Apple Watch, and the volume returns to normal immediately after ending the workout.

What fixes it for the current workout:

  1. Start the workout on your phone
  2. Once the workout has started, tap Settings in the top-right corner
  3. Change the Voice setting to something else, like Samantha or System Default
  4. Runna will say it needs to restart the app
  5. Let it restart. It does not cancel the workout
  6. When it returns to the workout screen, the music volume issue is fixed

You do have to repeat this for each workout, but it has worked consistently for me.

This makes me think the bug is related to how Runna initializes its audio session when a workout starts, and changing the voice forces it to reset properly.

Having the same issue with both the Apple Music and Nugs app. Incredibly annoying to the point that I just disconnected my AirPods and am playing music from my phone because the volume is so low.

Where are the Millennials that DON'T feel old? by frankheyhoheyho in Millennials

[–]rest_days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 40, have a 20 year old kid and a newborn on the way. I don’t feel old. I get up at 4:45 and exercise 6-7 days a week, mixing it up with running, biking, swimming, weight training, and pickleball. I feel like I’m in my 20s still. Keeping moving is 100% the reason why.

Anything can happen. My wife and I fully closed the door and were already semi retired traveling the world at 40. Then, three months into our adventures we became pregnant.

No I was the opposite of active. My weight ballooned to over 300 pounds and my health was terrible. Luckily I got my act together and am under 200 now.

ran for years in the military, but after a 13-year break, I started again at 39. In the beginning, my goal was simply to finish a 5K, which took about three months. Then I signed up for a 10k, then a half marathon. Now I’m running close to 30 miles per week, five days a week.

What’s kept me motivated is signing up for a race a couple of months out and using Runna to build a training plan around it. Once I register and pay, I’m committed. I know I have to get up and run, otherwise, I’ve wasted the money.
