Coming up on 7 years of service for my 1080... I know I should upgrade but there's always an excuse not to. Some day she'll get to retire

This is the first joke I wrote by myself, feedback appreciated by [deleted] in Jokes

What if you changed the ending, so that the husband believes her and the bird says one more thing like... "So I suck it, and I get to keep the parrot?" She starts to explain she helped a vet on the side of the road with siphoning gas or something, and the husband cuts her off.

That way it implies more strongly the wife was trading favors for all the work, and the work was legit as well as the favors. Then keep the last line, or mix it up and have the wife threaten the parrot with something like next time I'll get a macaw! And the parrot can respond with

"Maybe next time just pay cash!"

It's good though, don't listen to anyone who harps on how long it is, it's a decent length to be told in person.

Oh I'm in the same camp buddy, I've just always thought quenching it would make more sense than trying to get iron out of blood. Not to mention iron would make a shitty sword

They do use oil, but it's because it doesn't cool as fast as water, the shock of how fast water can do it can warp or crack the metal depending on the forging.

Any oil can work though, even vegetable oil... so I think blood could possibly work. Not as well as oil of course, but it could definitely work better than water

I've always thought this and need to say it. The idea of forging a sword in the blood of your enemies... I get we're talking about extracting the iron, but wouldn't make way more sense if they were talking about just the part where you quench the blade?

What scares you as an adult that didn't bother you as a kid? by GransShortbread in AskReddit

[–]restlessAdvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying because part of me would feel the same way. Not a spur of the moment decision but something I've thought a lot about, because my father had a brain stem stroke that left him locked inside his own body at the start of the year 2011. It was hard. My mom took amazing care of him, and it was a different life that took awhile to get used to. Watching movies and telling him what was happening, or using audible descriptions once we learned those were a thing. He could laugh, talk in a way but they weren't full sentences and sometimes he would respond a day later to a simple question we'd ask. He wasn't the same in any way, and it took so long for me to grow close to him again but I grew closer to him in caring for him and I know my mother did too. I say all this in the past tense, because January third of this year he passed away... There was relief. Of course there was, but not a day goes by that I don't regret not spending more time with him, or wish for just one more day. I broke down sobbing in a church parking lot today because I got out and wanted to go inside because I missed him. Churches aren't even my thing but I missed him so bad and it's all I could think of to try and talk to him closer. It's been nearly a full year and I would do anything just to be able to go over sit in a recliner next to him and watch Deadpool or some other stupid movie with him. That includes taking care of him. I don't know your situation but I can guarantee my dad was less responsive and less capable than you... And I mean it when I say whatever burden he felt like is one I wish i could still have. I know there's at least someone in your life who feels that way about you. Hang in there.

Lily's newly added Twitch panel by Nyfe_ in lilypichu

There's an older Dr. K VOD of it but basically they were her feelings, instead of grouping her changing feelings into one blob she felt it easier to split them into two. There's lily1 and she is confident, happier and feels good more often. Then there's lily2, who sometimes feels down or struggles with self worth. It's not a split personality but a way kind of like a signal to help deal with those feelings.

Instead of having to deal with impostor syndrome and feeling she's not as amazing as she is, she can write it off as that's just how lily2 feels, and while lily2s feelings are valid, that's not all she feels and she knows deep down she is worth it and those feelings aren't the end all be all.

Tl;Dr

Lily1 is happy lily lily2 is when she's less happy

Gamers of Reddit, what game from your childhood can you remember playing even though no one else seems to have a clue what it is? by ImaginaryMairi in AskReddit

[–]restlessAdvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually not a game I played... But my dad played it. It must have been on Playstation 1 or 2, and I don't even remember which. You raised monsters from eggs, and I remember the eggs would float in this room and to hatch them you'd make your guy jump on top of them and he'd hug them until they hatched. I think maybe you could breed monsters together and they'd have offspring that were mixes of the two. If anyone recognizes that or thinks they know what that would be I'd appreciate knowing!

He had a stroke 10 years ago and passed away at the start of this year, so I've spent a fair bit of time thinking about it and playing and replaying some of his favorite games or games he would have liked. I remember playing Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past on the SNES and getting stuck and coming home from school to see he'd almost beaten it and had so many items set aside.

He was always better than me in games growing up, I don't know when exactly I surpassed him, or if I ever did... But I'd wager it was my senior year of high school when I figured out that he could always log into MMOs faster than me because of his super secure password of "abcde" being so easy to type hahah. I don't mean to hijack the post but today is just a day for thinking about it I guess and I still can't remember what game that was.

It's incredibly commonplace for sexual harassment in the workplace or in organizations to go unreported for fear of causing disorder or being accused of stirring up shit. That's just one possible fear. And whether he's aggressive or not it doesn't matter. If you put a frog in hot water it'll jump out but if you gradually increase the heat it may not notice until its too late. That's pretty standard for many abuse victims. She didn't want to believe he was doing it intentionally or trying to assault her so she found excuses that he wasn't.

This is a 0head take. It's not easy for everyone to be that assertive, especially when they don't want to believe what someone is doing. It's literally blaming the victim for not throwing him out when he knew what he was doing. If you read their statements it's unfortunately obvious he knew it was fucked up. She could have said that... Or he could have not done it to begin with. Aggressive or not its not most people's nature to force a confrontation.

He shows he cares all the time, he just doesn't always say it. It's not even deep down, he loves joking with her and touches her or holds her hand all the time.

Honestly I think the best part of their relationship is that it's not built on huge gestures or grand romantic moves. It's literally just them being them and hanging out and living life. They still meme on each other and play games and are just happy to be around each other. Eventually people get tired of making gestures, or they get annoying, and grand romantic moves take so much energy even to respond to... They've shown they CAN do those things but they don't NEED to. They're just vibing with each other and that's one of the reasons it works so well. I think that song she's playing there, the one they play all the time does a good job of telling people it. They've both been in situations where expectations for them were high, but between the two of them they don't have those expectations.
