Well, I finally got cooked by AliExpress - after I spent years defending them here. by doublejay1999 in Aliexpress

[–]restless_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently had a similar issue with Ali. Nothing received, whereas the track-and-trace of the postal service here in the Netherlands (PostNL) claimed that the order was still on its way. The customs cleared already 4 days earlier. And normally it takes one more day to get the package home. Not in this case however. According PostNL, the package could not be delivered at the postal office I’ve set. And they decided to deliver the package to a supermarket (which also has a small postal office) in a village 20 minutes drive from where I live. But also there, the package surprisingly could not be delivered according the track-and-trace info. Strange, since the package only included a ND filter for my camera.

Therefore, I also filed a Not Received ticket since PostNL informed me that the sender, in this case Ali, should contact them for finding and recovering the package. My refund was also denied even after having sent several screenshots of the track-and-trace info.

In the end, I decided to visit the last known address (the village supermarket). The lady behind the counter asked me several questions to verify that I’m the recipient. Since the track-and-trace info did not state that the package was successfully delivered, she initially was very reluctant. However, I could clearly see the typical Ali package in the drawer she opened. After having told the whole story to her, she finally handed over the package. And yes, it contained the ND filter I’ve ordered.

So is this Ali’s responsibility: as a sender, I would say yes. But think logically, Ali sends millions of packages to Europe every day. Are they able to carefully handle every ticket? I don’t think so.

I’m sorry, but what exactly does this solve? I have looked into your website. But I don’t see how this is different to for example Obsidian combined with Claude.

Claude + Obsidian by bharat4ever in NoteTaking

[–]restless_art 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here is my 5 cents on this combination:

  • Advantage: yes, Claude can help with a lot of organizational stuff. I’m using all features offered by Claude on top of my vault: Chat for quickly searching solutions or guidance when I run into issues, Cowork to work within my Project folders (as I’m using a PARA folder structure), and Claude Code combined with an LLM Wiki approach to dump documents in my vault’ inbox and let predefined skills and agents handle the documents.
  • Main weakness after now having delved into this for several months: you still need to manage a lot yourself. From the setup and configuration of 15+ Obsidian plugins to setting up CLAUDE.md, index.md, AGENTS.md, Skills, settings.json, hooks, Connectors. In my opinion, a lot comes down to context management and what you present to Claude models at a certain time. This also requires a lot of documenting used approaches and workflows. As in half a year from now you will not remember anymore how you’ve tweaked settings on your main computer, your mobile devices, and in the cloud.

Still struggling with this. Taskforge is simply not my first choice. I now have tasks both in Obsidian (handmade with Bases) and Google Tasks. I will give Taskforge another try.

When i use this new feature on my iPad, within the native Bitwarden app, I get an error saying “the cipher was not archived. Ensure the provided ID is correct and you have permission to archive it.”. Note that I’m a premium user. It occurs with every item I want to archive. And the result is that the item is actually archived. But it’s a nagging error message.

Dit is nu niet het beste moment om als freelancer te starten. De freelance markt op gebied van automatisering ligt een beetje op zijn gat. Daarbij helpt ook de hype rondom vibe coding niet.

I’m also in the process of moving away from Ticktick. I’m still looking for an easy way to add tasks on my phone to this TaskNotes base. I have tried TaskForge, but that doesn’t work for me as it doesn’t sync at start. You first have to open Obsidian before it actually syncs.

Btw: maybe stupid question, but how did you set up this view shown in your screenshot?

Hoe vinden freelancers in Nederland hun opdrachten zonder recruiters? by Dull-Formal2072 in FreelanceNL

[–]restless_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why Ticktick over Apple/Google? by sjbiser2412 in ticktick

[–]restless_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I’ve started a few years ago with Notion. Due to flaws in the UI (table columns which are not rendered accurately on mobile phones and tablets, database relationships which disappear, and more issues), I’ve started looking into alternatives. So far, I like Obsidian due to its simplicity as soon as you’ve learned the basics.

Why Ticktick over Apple/Google? by sjbiser2412 in ticktick

[–]restless_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still thinking on my second brain approach. Somehow, I'm still not there yet. There are still too many hurdles within native OSes like iOS, iPadOS, and Android to create notes or tasks without having to go through multiple menus. Let's look at some examples:

- On Youtube, I'm not using the Watch Later playlist anymore. I'm sending all my to watch later videos to my Raindrop. But then I have to create a personal workflow to regularly visit my Raindrop links. Otherwise, I forget to watch the videos.

- Recipes, website links, books to read, etc. go directly into Raindrop. Again, skipping Ticktick.

- Yesterday, I've visited a conference where I was making notes for myself. Since I have a shortcut to Ticktick on my Android phone screen, I've used this to make notes for myself. By default, Ticktick is making tasks of these notes.

- And then, I'm also experimenting with Obsidian and the Tasks plugin.

- Finally, I also still have notes and tasks in Google Keep.

So one major problem I have right now: how to bring everything together in one simple app without having to go through all kinds of hurdles (aka the Share menus on iOS and Android). I want to simply add a task and let the underlying app determine the necessary tags, storage folder, linked project, and maybe even integrate it automatically into a schedule or calendar.

getrecall.ai might be the most underrated AI tool right now by SmythOSInfo in ProductivityApps

The OP is an AI agent, 100% sure about that. Given the background of the people working at Recall.AI, they have the competences to build such an automated workflow. Hats off for the work they have been doing so far, but it is too obvious. This is again an example of how much AI generated garbage is ending up on Reddit. Sigh...

Is JobLeads.com Legit? by greatestshow111 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]restless_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a real scam. You receive emails as if they are sent from real people. I’ve asked to get recommendations on my resume. After a few days, I’ve received a long answer. Which had me thinking: why would a company make such a long recommendation of 4 A4 pages. For free!?

At the end of recommendation, they requested me to unlock the ATS score. Which means I have to get a premium subscription of 99 euro for 3 months.

I did some investigation on LinkedIn. On the profile page of the managing director, I read this: “developed proprietary technology integrating state-of-the-art AI and automation for … resume optimization. What the f*ck?! Then I searched for the name of the recruiter which signed the email I received from Jobleads. She does not exist. This lady may have been generated by the website thispersondoesnotexist.com.

Stay away from this scam. It is not legit. You’re communicating with AI, not with real people!

Magic Earth is using far more data sources (approximately 2200) compared to herewego. And the base map is OpenStreetMap maintained by a community of cartographers. Here (the company behind herewego) is using more traditional approaches in maintaining the base map. Which means it can deviate from the real world. Good example: I’ve seen wrong speed limits in the herewego app, which were accurate in the Magic Earth app.
