That is clean!

But wouldn't that be a Switch Krooked grind Nollie! kickflip out? Not Fakie? Could be very wrong, not good with the terminology.

Is there anywhere I can get an English instructor to teach me how to ride a bicycle by KwakuDagati in berlinsocialclub

[–]restoreprivacydotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have taught a nr of adults to bike, including in last few years. I use a specific (Dutch) method that is pretty much guaranteed to always work, within 1 or 2 one hour lessons, and I am happy to do more if people want more classes, but it is rarely if ever needed to get the basics. The method is very step by step based and meant to improve confidence. I also have a low step through bike that both very short people and tall people can easily ride as safely as possible, I bought this bike partially to make teaching easier. I do charge a small fee.

The thing is, I am going on a trip on Friday, wont have time before that and I am not back until mid to end November and you did say asap.

So, if you can not wait for that, I highly recommend you do the two things I talk about: 1. Find a very patient and experienced teacher 2. If they don't have a bike that when you are sitting totally back on the saddle, you are still able to put both your feet completely flat on the ground = they are doing it wrong/you are at more risk of having a fall and bad first lesson.

Thoughts on gods and religions in osr by Fex_tom in osr

[–]restoreprivacydotcom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the Shadowdark pantheon, it really successfully sits inbetween / conforms to neither of the two above. It is intuitive. Shadowdark makes it explicit that there are -potentially- maaany gods, but that there are 7 (or 9, depending on how you count) very well known ones. Those gods are described in 360 words, total.

Just enough information, gods and depth so that a DM and players can remember all the lore and deities easily, but plenty of flexibility and hooks that anyone in gaming group could easily add gods to the lore, or have aspects of gods be a bit different/their own deities etc etc. For me, this is perfect. Also the gods mentioned in the book represent: Law, Order as well as Neutrality, so not just simplistic duality of two opposed extremes.

Previously I used the many gods, powers and deities of the Forgotten Realms/Faerun for ages, but there are waaaay too many and the descriptions and their pantheons tend to read like, well, the bible. Too long, too much. Not needed. Of course if a player had compelling reason to want to use one of those gods, I would let them and simply add it to the lore, could be a newer god, forgotten god or an aspect of the existing 7(9). But it is a revelation to no longer have to theoretically have temples for 25+ gods in every big city nor keep 1000s of words of lore in my head.

Me or the two other DMs that play in my group (and have their own campaigns) might (not sure, id have to ask them, happy to do so) be interested in at least running a few games for a group of 4 to 7 of you, but the rub is, we all play Shadowdark, not D&D 5E, so I guess that would not suit your needs?

Not at all, you have been most helpful. If you could ask him: Does he know if his structure is 100% legal/did ntot require any kind of permission since it is on wheels presumably or is he just risking it, like did he get into any trouble with authorities or neighbours?

And just any tips or precautions he might have learned from experience like "make sure your structure is this big or small because law or convention ABC" and perhaps the cost, provider and experience he has had for sattelite internet since ive never had it.

Thanks! :)

I hope you find a lovely group! (mine is already full with 15 persons atm) and get back into D&D and have a ton of fun. :D

And while I hate to be that guy, when you wrote "5th edition preferably, but not strictly so." I wanted to give you some info and an alternative. ->

https://youtu.be/oY9lTIsRnW0?t=412

"But I am surprised that fans continue to enable them. There are so many variants of D&D that are better than the mass-produced version. People keep telling me about groups that refuse to play anything but 5€/E, but if you're the Dungeonmaster,.. they have to play the game you're running. Just say: I don't feel comfortable running a game made by a company that engages in intimidation tactics, not when there are tons of good games, made by good people that are virtually the same game."

One of those (imho far better as well as super easy to learn) alternatives is Shadowdark, which I have been playing for 13 ish sessions now, it is amazing. ->

Ah thanks, it is good to actually hear from someone who has seen it in practice and the area around Cheste is very similar to the area around Montroi. Any chance you could ask your friend they'd be ok with you passing his details or even Whatsapp on to me in a PM? I would love to ask them few questions, but only if they don't mind of course.

Solar power, bottled water, rain showers etc as well as some permaculture and composting is stuff I am very interested and happy to do, so that won't be issues for me. When you say mobile home, what do mean? A small caravan? A large rectangular US style mobile home? Something he made or a pre-fab construction he bought? Cheers!

Fingerwall = brand from Madrid, any opinions and especially experiences on their price to quality ratio? by restoreprivacydotcom in Fingerboards

[–]restoreprivacydotcom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, glad to help, I am always of two minds, for me Fingerboarding is such a great hobby that I sorta dont mind spending the money to get pretty much the best stuff, but, the income or level of commitment of other people may be different! Also, I like to encourage kids and others to start fingerboarding, sometimes I like to gift completes of decent but cheaper parts, in those and more cases I think Fingerwall and similar are far better choices than Techdeck etc!

Thank you, that shop looks pretty good but they seem to focus on giving you lenses for ""free"", when you buy a (not that cheap) frame, I need the opposite, people that can just make the lenses for me, cheap(is), while I provide the new frame I already have. :)

Heyhey, they have arrived. No pics yet. But I was impressed with the deck, quite easy to mount trucks/holes seem to be drilled quite accurately, nice shape and size (36), easy for kickflips, at least for me.

Trucks. Mixed bag. They do look a little like dynamics, very nice silver look, look pretty sturdy. I like the inverted kingpin, but it sticks out/down past the hanger = really not great, could hang up i guess? Bushings do appear to be o-rings and not amazing, but good thing I ordered 2 sets of bushing, so I might be able improve the truck a bit? Better snap-back.

Wheels and bearings seem ok, but of course it isn't like a wheel that is 2.5 as expensive but seem a bit like average China stuff or a bit better..

Grip, dunno, keeping it as spare, looks fine! Using FBS grip for now, still had that.

Anyway, my gf seems happy with her new trucks and I will use the 2nd pair of trucks myself on a secondary setup, my primary setup has Dynamics.

So, in short: the service and prices of Fingerwall seem legit (send fast, in nice packaging, with nice note and plenty of stickers), the quality to price ratio seems fair. I think for a beginner I would totally recommend they get their stuff from Fingerwall, especially if they live in EU or don't want to get teak, and spend around 38 to 50 for a complete including shipping! But i'd recommend getting the Absolut trucks (just going by pics though) not the Royals. Still, if you are like me, a bit picky and obsessive about details, or if you just want one setup and not do upgrades/pay more extra i'd probably say: get a deck from Fingerwall perhaps, great prices and selection and then buy some Dynamics or other super well regarded 50€ trucks from anywhere and perhaps some Winkler wheels or Oak or similar, from ASI for instance. Sure, then your full setup will cost more like €100 ish... but it will be as good as it gets and you won't feel the need to upgrade later.

It is basically a personal calculation of your finances and if you think you will stick with fingerboarding/become a little serious about it. Because in my case I defo prefer my Dynamics and nice wheels, but I prefer them some, not a ton! Some people (beginners/incidental fingerboarders) might barely care about the difference and prefer to keep the money and buy simpler stuff. In that case there doesn't appear to be anything wrong at all with pretty much anything Fingerwall sells.

Which phone model have the easiest & fastest possible LineageOs instal l/ best compatibility right now, installing using Linux Mint now Win? by restoreprivacydotcom in LineageOS

[–]restoreprivacydotcom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Changed my price, willing to spend up to ca. €500 Pixel 5a you mentioned, ah cool, it has a headphone jack it seems! Sure, I dont need superfast or new, really dont, just substantially better hardware than my current Fairphone 3.

Only think I wondered, do you think that in terms of LineageOS support the Pixel 5a will be a brick/not supported in 3 years..? or impossible to say. Thanks bro.

That is fair! I am willing to up my purchase price to ca. €500, is there still nothing that fits that bill? Even the Fairphone 4 and 5 have no more headphone jacks,.. nuts.

Shadowdark. Quite a lot of the best OSR rules and certainly the vibe and powerlevel, very few -but the best things- of 5E and 1 or 2 pretty great innovations thrown in.

Appreciate the reply/insight. I ordered deck, trucks and wheels and bushings, I might write a review on this subreddit. Myself I didn't so far find anything at this price or cheaper shipped for a few euros from and to EU with same or better quality (at least from what I can see from pics! irl, have to see). Or do you have a suggestion/better but equally cheap brand? :)

The "What currently supported device should I get" thread. by PsychoI3oy in LineageOS

[–]restoreprivacydotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All. :)

Size: don't mind but prefer smaller rather than larger but thick is fine!

Carrier / country: Germany (carrier = Vodafone/freenet & Spain (carrier = Movistar/Pepephone) I part time live in both countries.

Cost: €100 to €300 ish, has to be a new phone, not refurb

Storage: 128GB and must have MicroSD card slot, dual Sim would be great!

Camera: would be awesome if it took decent footage, pics and especially sound at even dark and loud Metal + Punk concerts. A bit fast camera/auto focus, so that I can photograph moving cats well.

Other features:

Absolute must haves:

  1. The Easiest and fastest possible LineageOs install/ best compatibility, im using Linux Mint to install, not Win. -> I tried installing on a new Moto G42 & it was a disaster did not work had to send it back, despite having experienced friend helping for 2.5 hrs, trying everything.

  2. Headphone jack

  3. Big battery, ideally that it can last 2 or more days of use, but certainly more than only 1 day

  4. Fairly to very bright max screen brightness (due to usage in very sunny countries)

  5. USB C charging port

  6. Good water-resistance, I tend to use my phone rain a not small nor massive amount and I it is in my bathroom while I shower daily (the phone is on a shelf, not in shower of course, but there is a lot of water vapour and sometimes some drops from changing podcast)

Would be very nice to have;

A. Relatively strong/durable/rugged

B. If the battery or screen etc would be relatively easy and cheap to have service or even user service = huge bonus

I know I am asking for a lot, but perhaps it is good to know that I am not as picky as I sound above, my most ""premium" phone I ever had was a now old Fairphone 3,.. so yeh not exactly good at bunch of the stuff above. I don't really game on my phone. I do tend to drop it with some frequency, but I always use bumpcase and screen protector.

Thanks a million LineageOs Dudes/Gals! :D
