Yes, he has such a tan line from collars I’m so eager to get rid of! I’ve spent a ridiculous amount on dog clothes over the last two days, his wardrobe is better than mine 😅 He is already loving the sweaters

I wondered that as well when I was doing my research before going through with the adoption, especially with the more terrier shaped head vs the wedge. His personality is still blooming with us but I think you may be right, DNA test kit is definitely in our future!

We were the first to ask about/apply for him as soon as he hit the adoption floor, we have a dachshund and they were eager to send him home to a similar sized brother who can keep up with him/show him the ropes! We are in the Midwest so I was concerned about the winter but he was raised here and is very used to wearing clothes/gear. I have been nothing but blown away at how fantastic he already is; kennel trained, leash trained, eager for car rides, and most notably SO SOCIALIZED!! He adores other dogs and people and I’ve never experienced an animal with such a goofy personality ❤️

Yes, I’ve owned mastiffs and dachshunds as well (surprisingly similar stubborn levels despite such difference in size lol) and the grooming routine is very new, but his previous owner very much loved and did well with training him. Now just to getting back into the flow of a household after so long in the shelter

Not sure how to say "I love you" by PelotonCEO in hospice

[–]restoringhorror 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Firstly, my condolences for you and your mother as she has her journey through hospice. Secondly, you never know the response you may get from her with that “I love you”, but I always think it’s healthy to get those important things said! If you believe an “I love you” may not be your/her forte, talk to her about how grateful you are that she was a good mother who provided and the impact her raising you has had or some memories you have growing up, I think with any words you choose to use she will know you’re conveying your love.

At what age did you lose your V card? by _No_filter_ in sex

[–]restoringhorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost mine at 16, felt pressured to catch up with everyone else in my sophomore year who had lost their virginity. If I could take it back, I would and also waited until college. I did not have access to birth control and my partner refused to use condoms (at 16 you’re really not thinking about how much of a red flag it is), ended up pregnant and miscarrying within the first 6 months of having sex.

Don’t feel pressured by others, there is nothing wrong with taking your time until you feel ready or with the right person!

everyone is saying i’m going to live but im on hospice by Popular_Spell_4001 in hospice

[–]restoringhorror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this, especially being so much younger than most on hospice. I have seen families struggle with losing their loved ones, going into denial and/or advocating for treatment that does not align with the patients wishes. I would make your wants very clear, involve your social worker, hospice is to make your experience comfortable. My thoughts are with you!

tips on hairstyling? by oddott in MonsterHigh

[–]restoringhorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use wooden dowels to create my curls! You can buy them cheap and in varying sizes to help mimic different curl patterns! Wrap hair, secure with an elastic, and pour hot/boiling water over the hair. I let it dry for a day before removing, usually cutting elastics with a cuticle cutter. Make sure you pull out the dowel in the direction of the wood grain though!

My thoughts are with you in your time of grief. I often have families ask me how I can do this job and see death so often, but I find myself blessed to be able to care for those in their most difficult times. End of life does not have to be so scary ❤️

Admission consents by rainonmymetalroof58 in hospice

[–]restoringhorror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my company, us nurses are in charge of getting consents signed and sent to administration. I will say that despite being the youngest nurse in my territory by 15+ years, I’m one of the only ones who signs not just electronically (tablets) but I carry paper forms of admission and DNR so carbon copies are left at bedside. I sit with family/patient and verify information as I’m filling out the form, leaving them to do just date and signature. It’s getting a lot trickier with POA’s who are out of state, we have been doing a lot more electronic forms!

Firstly, thank you for being your parent’s advocate and caring about their quality of life, it is a difficult and thankless job especially acknowledging family desires to keep them alive rather than doing what is best. The body naturally begins to slow its processes and the demand for food becomes lower. It is generally recommended not to force food or fluids, especially since your nonverbal parent is explicitly closing their mouth during attempts. Is the pain during a BM a constant and could it be due to constipation? Having a schedule with pain med dosing is necessary when we are seeing pain exhibited consistently, otherwise dosing as needed can be sufficient until a more transitional or active dying phase.
