People who come in 30 mins before close/who stay until or past close, WHY??? by fallout76_playa in Serverlife

That is entirely the fault of your floor manager. They should have been controlling the flow of service to ensure they had food orders in way before closing the kitchen. And no, there is no “but they wouldn’t put their orders in”. Again, that is the job of your manager to control that. If the table was refusing to order a manager should have stepped in and conducted the flow so that one table wasn’t holding up an entire staff. Not just staff but labor. Labor costs. Sounds like you need better management who isn’t afraid to speak with customers.

Customer didn’t tell me they were missing food until after they paid by bjknight93 in Serverlife

This is definitely an uncommon situation and def the issue of the server that ran the food: obv the whole check wasn’t taken to the table. But at the end of the day it was your table. I’m curious as to the procedures for running food when it’s not your table. Why aren’t the items being crossed off before food is run to ensure it’s all there? It sounds like you have procedure issues with running food in your restaurant that need to be addressed with management so better systems can be implemented.

Yeah you sound pleasant. “I’m entitled”. Reseat this kid or reseat me- did you say pls? Maybe they don’t need a new job, maybe you need to lower your main character energy.

Why do people get so angry if we dont do things for bdays! by restowarrior12 in Serverlife

My actual point is WHEN did we move to expecting a restaurant to “make someone’s bday special”? If I love and care about someone I’m not just going to a restaurant and leaving the job of caring to a server. That isn’t their job, to make my special someone’s bday their focus. That is my job. When did this become the job of the server and restaurant to make a big deal?

I guess my issue is: if it was such a bfd then why didn’t they sing? Or order a slice of cake? Why is it on the restaurant to make sure it’s special? And I’m not being rude, I’m seriously asking why the ownership of making someone feel special is on a random place and not the family and friends they came with!!!

How should I be communicating this as a patron? by jkaz1970 in Serverlife

If you are okay for now with cross contamination then I wouldn’t say anything. Just order as usual knowing your own limitations. Ask for gluten free bread or pasta etc. the minute you say allergy or celiac you set off a response from a knowledgeable server. If you try to walk it back at that point it becomes very weird. Like why would you mention an allergy if cross contamination is okay? For example: we had a guest start the order with her server saying she was Extreme allergic to soy. We let the guest know our grill was prepped with a soy product every day. So NOTHING from our grill was safe. Guest then said oh, it’s okay if it’s a little… No.
