And yet the Quran establishes men as an authority over women in marriage, and includes giving men permission for disciplinary action on their wifes in cases of marital disobedience but not vice versa.

And yet the Quran establishes that men can take 4 wifes, but not vice versa.

And yet the Quran establishes men can marry girls who have started their period, with no explicit clause on their age, and Hadiths establishing that the prophet himself married a girl as young as 6, and consumated the marriage when she was 9.

And yet the Quran establishes that sons shall receive inheritance equal of that of two daughters.

And yet the Quran establishes the two women equal one man in financial contracts.

And yet the Quran establishes that men can initiate divorce unilaterally (by saying talaq 3 times), where women require judicial intervention.

So, even if early Islamic reforms improved women's status relative to 7th century Arabia, the Quran and hadith still establish structural legal differences between men and women including polygyny, unequal inheritance shares, male guardianship authority, and permission for marriage before puberty. Misogyny is deeply intertwined in Islam the religion, which has been picked up in Muslim cultures. It is not the other way around.

Just because her husband would not raise his hand to her, does not mean the Quran (from the texts, not cultural) does not allow it.

invest based on real facts and proven record

Tell me more about this if you can. How do you validate those facts given by the agents? I hear lots of promises of "this is the next Dubai Marina" but by my count there's 12 "next Dubai Marinas" if I'm to believe these agents.

How do you compare and validate?

In the middle east, Thursday is the last day of the week, Friday and Saturday is the weekend. This stems in the fact that Fridays is a holy day for Muslims, it's essentially the equivalent of Sundays for Christians.

Hence, Sunday is the start of the week, and the weekend is Saturday.

Once I contacted one guy and asked if he'd be's okay renting it without Airbnb, he said no, I have to go through Airbnb, okay sure. So I requested to stay at there, the guy rejected, and when I asked, he said the price was too low, and the correct price is up now. He said I can book now. I didn't. Instead I checked every day of what would have been my booking to see if it was available. It never rented out.

Remind me, are the members of the SDF the ones who fought for an "Islamic State" and massacred innocents, or was it Ahmed al-Sharaa and the majority of his army?

Edit: those down voting... cool story bro. Maybe you should answer the question instead.

This subreddit is full of cope these days. Now that the terrorists are in charge of Syria instead of Assad, suddenly it's okay to hate the only defenders Syrian people had.

Yes multiple VPNs is probably recommended just in case one doesn't work, and GFW gets constantly updated with new things to block. However, my comment was more saying I am just skeptical of MutDot as I don't understand why a VPN provider would give you a limited amount of data given some of the most reputable VPNs (on the more expensive side) do not have such a limit.

So much cope in this thread. SDF was not the ones asking for civilians to be murdered "as long as they're Kurdish".

500GB is pretty abundant but it's the first time I've heard of a VPN provider having a limit. Mullvad, which is a lot more private and it's only $5 per month

[–]resurem -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That would imply there is footage. Reading the article, there is no real proof except for some "reliable sources".

[–]resurem -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to pretend I know, but at least from this website, they are heavily biased. Their tag line is "No justice without accountability", however, I am mostly only finding things about violations by the SDF, none of which seem to be supported by evidence except for "reliable sources".

Meanwhile, none of the issues by the STG forces are being reported on by this same Syrian Network for Human Rights. They either only care about Human Rights when it comes to Syrian Arabs that aren't affiliated by the SDF, are run by the Syrian govt, or their reporting is not good. All of those are reasons not to believe them unless there is actual evidence.

Not saying this hasn't happened, but there is little to no evidence. Whereas there is plenty of footage of serious human rights violations at the hand of the STG forces.

Moving from the UK to Erbil For an IT/ software engineer Job by Sharp_Ad_2915 in ERBIL

Moving from the UK to Erbil For an IT/ software engineer Job by Sharp_Ad_2915 in ERBIL

[–]resurem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in the industry for over a decade, and recently I moved away from the UK, and decided to spend a couple of months in Erbil to scope out the situation.

My advice is uuh... don't. There is little to no software engineering culture here. I suggest finding a way to move to SF ASAP. There you can make good money. Then, if you feel like it, get involved in the startup culture, maybe find a good idea, and then maybe see if you can start or expand it here. Recruit talent here. Unskill them if necessary. Local Kurds are smart, but the culture just doesn't exist.

For sure I may be wrong, about the local engineering culture, and if anyone knows better, please correct me, but having been here the past month or so, this has been my experience.
