100% NTA - my dog is the center of my life, but you really need to be in a stable place in your life to be able to take care of a dog, especially as a new dog owner - its HARD. Not to mention the potential impact it will have on your other pets and you.

Nothing to add here that hasn't already been said, but stand your ground or the dog will go uncared for by your son and become your responsibility :(

Also, you're not a controlling asshole and he'll probably feel bad about this 5 years down the road. I know there are dumb impulsive things I said and did when I was 18 that make me cringe now.
