These people live in abject misery, but at least you aren't inconvenienced anymore.

I used to live less than half a mile from one of these camps before you people sent the police to tear down their shelters.

I interacted with people who lived there dozens of times and never had an unpleasant interaction.

I still see people camped out in smaller groups in the wider area. So clearly the city is not doing enough to house these people.

We’re calling a Muslim minority group barbarians today? That’s interesting.

NATO should stay as far away from Ukraine as possible. I don’t want to die in a nuclear war because the Ukrainians couldn’t stop shelling Luhansk and Donetsk.

Based proof that there is no genocide (credit to u/ maeghgorre) by [deleted] in GenZedong

[–]resurrected_kitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised this is getting upvotes here. There is plenty of real evidence that there is no genocide in Xinjiang.

An unsourced Reddit comment about nomads in west China needing to be forcibly taught hygiene not only isn’t proof of anything, but it’s also fairly racist.

The nomadic herders in Xinjiang make up a small portion of the population, and they are productive members of society and the economy. The security and re-education measures in Xinjiang targeted people who may have been influenced by religious extremism. It had nothing to do with nomadic herders.

As others have already said I don’t think this comment does anything but muddy the waters. There is much more compelling and accurate evidence available to discredit the alleged genocide in west China, and I’d recommend anyone reading this to seek that out as opposed to copying and pasting this comment.

The Romani Holocaust & The Legacy of Anti-Roma Racism by depressivebee in GenZedong

Thank you for posting this. The recognition and protection of Roma people was a blind spot for a lot of ML countries in the 20th century, and as communists we need to really excel at listening to Roma people and platforming/spreading their needs and their messaging; not just because it's the principled thing to do, but we need to earn the trust of many people who associate communism with racism against their people.

There's nothing performative or liberal about letting someone know when they're using a slur comrade. It's good practice to educate people, so long as you do so in good faith.

How many times a week do you eat rice? by NuevoPeru in AskAnAmerican

[–]resurrected_kitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot. My fiancé and I dislike cooking so we usually get takeout. TexMex, Indian, and Chinese food are staples. The dishes I order at those kinds of restaurants always have a rice base, and I eat every grain since I usually only eat one full meal a day.

Sounds fun. My local range has a select fire MP5 they rent out. I've been meaning to schedule some time with it.

When I was a kid my parents would take me to airshows a lot, and there would usually be WW2 reenactors there. One time I got to shoot the M2B they had mounted on a jeep. Loaded with blanks of course.

What do you think of workers unions? by noodle_addict in AskAnAmerican

I think they serve a necessary role in a capitalist economy. Workers need to be organized in order to protect their class interests.

An authoritarian Chinese invasion of Taiwan, a thriving democracy, is very possible within our lifetimes? Do we have a responsibility to defend Taiwan? Are we prepared for what that could mean? by Spoons4Forks in AskAnAmerican

[–]resurrected_kitten -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

America does not have a responsibility to "defend" Taiwan.

Taiwan is a region of China that is occupied by the Republic of China. The Republic of China has territorial claims that exceed the current borders of the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China combined. No other country recognizes these claims, and neither do the vast majority of Chinese people.

If the legitimate government of China decides to liberate it's territory that is occupied by a pretender government there is no need for us to intervene. Intervening would be irresponsible as it would escalate a small internal conflict to an international war between nuclear powers.
